Add a Linux distro Steam section
I had an idea for Steam to continue growing Linux.

A portion of Steam where they host Linux Distros and allow the teams that work on the distros to get updates, explain the strengths and weaknesses of their Distro, and possibly accept donations either via selling items or gifted items like steam cards sold on the marketplace.

It wouldn't work like the rest of Steam as a Linux distro is not the same as downloading software.
This would be more like a profile page you could subscribe to for updates and have a steady trust worthy source for downloading a distro. It could also give a more active forum for feed back, for better or worse... mostly worse, on the steam forums.

The big advantage to this would be allowing for the Linux Distros with profile pages on Steam to sell items on the Steam Marketplace or even recieve items as a donation. Selling items like startups intros for steam deck, profile wallpapers, profile themes, even in game items to games willing to partner with distros. It would be a way for people to rep their support for their favorite distros and comodify the support rather than the Devs creating all these wonderful products and hoping someone hits the donation link or a large corporation throws money at them.

A secondary option would be allowing people to donate items like steam cards to them and allowing the Linux Distro team to sell the item, keep it in an escrow, and then cash out the sale. The only problem with this would be a completely different system for the linux devs selling items as currently items sold only convert to Steam credit and should only be allowed for those linux projects.

Due to the monitary incentives for having a Linux Distro able to receive money Steam would have to be selective on who they allow in the program to prevent people from whipping up joke versions of Linux then starting a Linux Distro profile, otherwise prepare for Justin Beiber Linux to start selling items.
Steam focusing on distros highly focused on gaming (Bazzite, Cachy, Nobara, ETC.)

Its a rough idea that might not work due to how some of payout systems work, issues with donating items and how that would work, Steam having to be actively involved and selective on who has access to the marketplace, and doesn't solve a problem or add anything other than another location to download a distro.
But I just thought it would be a cool idea to help further push support for Linux projects that help Steam users enjoy steam on Linux.
