100% a game without DLC
So I've been trying to get all the achievements in a game I like, but I don't own all the DLC.

I would love to see the achievement system get similar to the trophy system on PlayStation, where you can still perfect a game without all the DLC. There are just different categories for different add-ons. If a game has lots and lots of DLC and there are new ones coming regularly, it's hard to afford every single one of them. That's why it would be amazing if it was possible to get the "perfect" status on a game with just completing the base game achievements.

But is it truly perfect if you don't have every last achievement, even the ones from the DLC?

Given that Valve makes achievements optional and hasn't really done anything to alter how they work in... well ever, I highly doubt it's going to happen. I'm pretty sure they only added achievements to Steam just to get people to stop asking for them, and only did the barest minimum to implement them.
Already a recent suggestion still on the front page about this;
