Valve should create a Discord-like app
Not sure if this belongs here, I think its' a "suggestion".

Discord is going public, which means it will suffer a lot of en****tification soon.

I think if Valve had its' own app, it would make (extra) bank, given Steam's popularity. Perhaps it could have integration with "Friends" or the Forum boards.

Discord is the place where people get scammed most of the times, even from those people they call "friends".
Extra scams is not extra money, just extra trouble.

:saint:
They don't really need to make a new app, they already have a chat feature and steam groups so all they need to do is improve things there to make them preferable to discord.
Actually, we can also use Revolt, which is basically a Discord clone minus all the garbo.

Never heard of Revolt but now I'm curious about it.
It seems to be pretty early in the development, at least on Android. For now I just use it as a form of "insurance policy".

What data do you have to support that claim?

After all you'd think selling movies would make Steam extra bank, given Steam's popularity, even Valve thought so. But that didn't turn out to be true. Just saying. Being able to imagine money isn't the same as actually making it.
Valve should just probably integrate discord to Steam at this point. Since PlayStation and Xbox has discord integration, i dont see why valve wouldn't do the same thing

Most likely will be a niche app. Discord is too mainstream, they make around $200k in Nitro subs. Revolt should start focusing on competition to get the masses to use it over discord.
Steam does have a Discord-like app. It's here: https://steamcommunity.com/chat

Discord was already enshatitfied long before now. So no, Steam does not need to be the Swiss Army Knife of the Internet and add yet more completely unneeded bloat to the system.

I don't really see the point in this since Steam already has a feature similar to Discord and TeamSpeak that's simply called "Steam Chat". And having a separate app would just complicate things.

Just make steam suck less.

discord is going down the drain now anyway, new CEO is ex-blizzard, and that's on top of the circling the drain to begin with, at least as far as goes prodiving a half-decent user experience.

No need for them to do that, we already have steam chat, it is already enough.

Steam group chat is like discord.
You can create channels, grant rights, publish pictures, videos and gifs....

I mean the SteamChat is basically Discord

Note that with Discord's new CEO, if you thought Discord was bad before, its going to become exponentially worse very fast
