Discount on bulk buying gifts
What if (sometimes) there was a discount on buying multiple copies to gift to friends?

Obviously it would be up to the developer and/or publisher who owns the rights to the game, but perhaps they would be interested in this sort of option.

It wouldn't be impossible, but I have feeling Steam won't be up to doing it for few reasons I could think of. Plus on some games devs already opt to giving you special discount on their bundle upto 30% basically.

Now I know game devs can offer you Steam keys as a bulk deal directly where they get 100% profit, or can contact retailer selling the keys to make bulk purchases if it maybe like 50+ ~ 100+ keys that often what they do for bulk deals giving like 3%+ extra discount, that what some gray market sites do, and how they get mass bulk.
We used to have 'packages' i dunno why we don't have them anymore
Can you elaborate on what you feel are the reasons Steam won't be doing that? I feel like this sort of discount is perfectly amicable between consumer and seller, because ultimately the discount enables people to make a series of purchases they otherwise wouldn't make. It's a win-win, is it not?
There's a few games I would love to buy for a group of friends, but always end up feeling like the price tag of such a purchase would be a bit too much. I don't think a 10% or 20% discount would be too much on that sort of thing, would it?
Main problem is people likes to get paid and somebody is going to need to foot the bill for that discount.

I'm not against the idea but it has a money problem.

if you want a bigger discount, talk to that games developer/publisher. if steam made a system that allows for group gifting, that does not mean the dev's will give a bigger discount or even use it.

What I'm trying to emphasize is that I would not pay the full price to buy that many copies in the first place. It's not a bill being foot, it's them getting paid whereas otherwise they would get NOTHING, because I would not pay the full price for 3 copies in any scenario other than me suddenly getting a huge raise (which is not happening any time soon).

I think devs would love to have that as an option, actually. If anything I think it would be very very beneficial for smaller, lesser-known titles that have passionate fans that are willing to buy multiple copies for friends.

Exactly, you are unwilling to foot the bill to buy the games at their advertised price, so here you are begging for bulk discounts like you are some sort of wholesaler who handles hundreds or thousands of units.

Hey, that's pretty bad faith of a response. I'm just speaking earnestly and using myself as an example. It's not terribly out there to use your own experiences/patterns of thought to corroborate on a point, I don't see why you'd have to respond like that.
Valve discontinued the multipacks.

I'd like to ask you to re-read the discussion in good faith.
