I am not at all interested in buying avatars or frames or backgrounds, but I have 146k steam points just sitting there collecting dust. WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE THEM TO BUY GAMES! I asked Steam Support if this will ever be implemented but they don't have that kind of info.

It won't because Steam Points have no actual value. Unless they remove everyone's current points and make the only way to earn them is buying games.

That's the closest chance they will allow them to be used to buy games.

Valve tried coupons a couple times with the Token system for a $5 coupon off a $30 purchase. Each time people exploited the crap out of it and Valve never brought it back when they switched to the points system. Tokens also expired.

If Valve wants to try this again, they'll definitely have plenty of restrictions in place and will cost tens of thousands of points for a coupon.

Valve covered the cost of the coupons for the purchases. Devs still got paid real $ by Valve. I don't know why people still think Valve didn't cover the cost of the coupons.

I've got a better idea. I should be allowed to buy food and pay bills with Steam points. Surely the power company will appreciate some digital stickers!

Your steam-points holds no monetary value. You basically ask for a way to buy games with bottle-caps.

Not going to happen, developers and publishers don't work for free.

Steam points have no value, so... no you shouldn't. If Valve wanted to use Steam points that way they would. It's not something they forgot about or didn't think of, they chose not to use them that way. Your lack of interest in steam points and desire to find a use for them doesn't warrant changes on Valve's part.

Even if Valve was to implement some kind of points for games/store credit system it would almost certainly be a new pool of points. IE see Nintendo Gold/Platinum points.It's been asked for a bunch of times, for as long as points have existed. And yet points remain as they are.

If I could buy games with steam points. I'd feel bad about spending them on nice profile stuff and emojis. I want a nice profile and the right emoji for every situation tho I wouldn't spend money on it. So I'm glad steam points can't be used as real money
Its kinda the point that the points are pointless
