Why Doesn’t Steam Support UPI In India Yet?
Okay, let’s address the elephant in the room: Why is UPI still not a payment option on Steam?

It’s 2024, and India’s UPI (Unified Payments Interface) has become the gold standard for digital payments for its finely tuned balance between user-friendliness and security. A quick scan of Indian digital platforms and services will show you just how ubiquitous UPI is. From buying groceries to booking movie tickets, it’s everywhere. Everyone uses it. So why, despite having NovaPlay, an Indian payment partner, does Steam stubbornly refuse to integrate UPI?

We’re not asking for anything exotic here. UPI is literally the payment method that makes sense for millions of Indian gamers who want a quick, secure, and hassle-free way to pay. Credit cards are cumbersome. Debit cards often require multiple layers of frustrating verification. Wallets? Don’t even get me started—they’re clunky and redundant when UPI exists.

It’s baffling, honestly. You’re a platform that encourages global access to games, and yet you’re neglecting a market that lives and breathes UPI transactions. The integration isn’t rocket science—it’s a no-brainer. Many other international platforms like Google, Amazon, and Netflix figured it out ages ago.

Dear Steam, why are we still stuck in 2015 with limited, outdated payment options? The irony is real when your very own regional partner, NovaPlay, should already understand how critical UPI is for Indian users.

Please, it’s high time to stop pretending UPI doesn’t exist. We love your platform, but we’re frustrated with how unnecessarily tedious it is to give you our money. SO Valve, Let’s get with the times and PLEASE add UPI as a payment option🙏

Sincerely,
An Exasperated Indian Game Fan

Probably the "Virtual address of the customer" thing

A virtual address is a real street address that you can use as a mailing address or business address without the need for you or your business to physically occupy that space.

Care to elaborate? I mean if you're asking about the real world address, you anyway have to enter it EVERY TIME before you get redirected to payment Portal
