WTB Steam Queue for smaller/older multiplayer games!
Many great games don't have an actively online playerbase (ex. guardians of orion, but there are countless) so they are almost impossible to play.

Steam should have a multiplayer queue for games like this, maybe subscription based, or just for everyone who has the game installed, which notifies you about ongoing lobbies for the games you want. So when someone wants to get a game going, people are notified.

It could "put you in a steam group chat with the rest of the lobby once you join." -AdrianEon31

There are too many amazing games presumed dead just because nobody is actively running the game to see the proprietary lobby.

Please consider, Thanks!

Better to just coordinate in the game hub or make a group for such specific things IMO. Let's not do more subscription service stuff that comes across as MTX.
Nobody knows what you just said. This has nothing to do with microtransactions.

A global queue or similar for rarely played games is 100% necessary, or they will all remain in the dustbin for no good reason.
^ don't let countless games die forever for no reason
Steam needs some subscription notification system for older games to alert people when others want to play them. So many great MP games that aren't played at all just because nobody knows when others want to play.

They don't die for no good reason. They die for perfectly valid reasons.

No it does not need to provide a service for other developers games. If the developers or the current player base (such as it is) are concerned about it, then they can do it themselves. It's as easy as creating a dedicated discord or Steam Group for it. Heck, I've been able to get multiplayer going in dead games just from using that game's forums.

If people aren't gathering and playing those games for free now... what makes you think people would pay over and above what they have already paid for a "subscription" to play them now?

If you want people to join a game with you, post in that games hub or find a group for the game thats still active, or start one yourself.

If a game lobby no longer exists, thats not something for Valve to take care of, thats up to the games developer/publisher/IP owner to fix.
