Ban Companies From Blocking Linux
I hope they make it against the rules to sell games that work on Linux and then change the game intentionally so that it no longer works on Linux. EA games did this with a bunch of their games by purposefully adding an anti cheat that does not work on Linux. I have a WRC racing game that worked fine for months when I bought it but now I can no longer play the game because of this. At all, not even in single player mode.

Same with Battlefield games. This is fraud (in my opinion) to sell a game and then basically steal it from players just because they don't like the OS we use. This affects anyone with a Steam Deck as well.

The charts show a very noticeable drop in the amount of infected servers after the Linux block was initiated.

And they changed the anti-cheat.
So neither you nor them can say which part of that was the Linux ban or the changes to the system.

It was naive of me thinking that you would actually watch the video...
I wonder why you are so set on defending them?

Again, all you have shown is hearsay, and speculations, and none of it points to EA blocking Linux just to screw over Linux users. It points to them doing it to try and reduce the amount of people cheating in their game.

I did click off of the video about a 3rd of the way through, after hearing him say he didn't know anything for about the 9th time. That doesn't constitute proof, that constitutes conspiracy, and speculation.

You can wonder all you like, but I asked someone a question, and you came in to answer it. Though you've not actually been able to. If you can show me something that shows that they blocked Linux users to just spite Linux users, I'll definitely concede. I don't however take someone's bad faith misinterpretation of an article, or the hearsay of a small YouTuber as proof of this, as most reasonable people wouldn't.

I'm done with this conversation unless you can bring something of actual substance to the table. Cheers, I hope you have a great day.

I don't even like EA - for killing many good studios after buying them - but I highly doubt they did it intentionally other than "almost no players using linux, no official support."

Too many people use youtubers that speculate and say they don't know, for whatever reason, as some sort of "trust me bro" situation.

Fact is most just don't officially support linux because the userbase is too small per game - likely with deck compatible games as exceptions with small install sizes etc - and that quite often as a few individuals including myself have said, people that use the os tend to be rather entitled and even "insufferable" in regard to basically demanding linux support.

if software did no officially support your platform, not obgligated to support it
use of third party software to make platform specific game work on linux is not equal to company officially supporting linux
if want play window game, install window or purchase seperate computer where window install

That's the problem though. Its not an issue of the game simply being incompatible with Linux. Almost no game is incompatible with Linux anymore. Even very old games that no longer work in Windows.

EA games intentionally blocked Linux users from playing the game 8 months after release.
The game was never meant to be compatible with linux. thusly them making a change that makkes it more incompatible is really a null point. That it could was literally a happy accident. An accident the devs were uunder no obligation to maintain.

yup. Not to mention it presents a moving target with all the distros out there. The STeamOS Steamdeck might help with that, , creating a sort of fixed target to aim for but that's a time will tell scenario
My god, I used the video because I don't have the time or will to explain how to read charts here.
You can close your eyes and ignore facts, but they will not became less fact because you do that.

EDIT:
It is something like this: (x + y) = 30%.

x = Linux ban.
y = Update on anti-cheat for new season.

Give me the value of X and Y so we can check what is what.
Also, it is 30% of something that we don't know, because they never said.
Aldo, at the end of the chart there is a sharp incline on the number of cheaters.

You too? Lmao. You'd think advice would be given openly, but one can only speculate. :bearthink:
