Downloading games causes store pages to load very slowly

I have fast internet.
When I download a game it pretty much tanks the store pages.
Why on earth don't steam have their store pages as a priority for the bandwidth?
I might have bought a game but they are DoSing themselves.
It's so stupid.
and before anyone suggests it; no, I'm not about to throttle my download manually if I want to view the store pages. my point is that they should have thought of this and handled it themselves.

Steam will use up all your bandwidth while downloading something. Set Steams download speed to around 3/4 of the speed you can download at, leave it there and that will leave lots of speed to view what ever you want. You could set it higher, but I find 3/4 gives a good balance between downloading something decently fast and still being able to use the internet connection.

And they did think of this... they gave you the ability to set your download speed in Steam. Since they would have no idea how fast someones connection would be, they can't set a specific speed themselves or even just set it to X% of your speed themselves, so they gave you the ability. And remember your download speed can vary because of others in your home using it to stream music/movies/shows/youtube/whatever.

You will need to throttle the download in steam as it will use your entire bandwidth to download regardless if want to do that or not.

Thanks for making it clear that what it was clear to you that I was already clear about the download limit in steam (and clearly I would not set one as a solution to this issue) and that as a result, your suggestion to set a download limit was very clearly the most dense and impotent suggestion given said clarity of my position.
