also i believe steam should implement an router feature that only allows family sharing to work if the computers are using the same WIFI router, and different ip's should not be allowed to access games at the same time.
for example if one ip is say across the country, then the other, only the native computer ip which the account has access to the said game should be allowed to play it.
Family sharing is not ment to be game sharing. its intention was for same house hold sharing.
for example Steam Link already uses this feature i believe both the main PC running the game and the steam link device must both be on the same router for it to work.
Streaming using Steam Link can be done anywhere around the globe. There is no same router/IP restriction on it.
in any way thanks for the update on this. i will have to try steam link again its been a while, but it is a fun feature to play the games you want on steam that are incompatible with a tablet device.
But, Regardless I would suggest that Family Sharing adopt the In Home sharing feature only and that computers across the globe should not be allowed to share games using family share, as family share again was only intended to allow same households to share games.
It has been a thing for years. The feature used to be called In-Home Streaming but changed a long time ago. It only requires a PIN from the streaming PC now, which was a newer addition they added.
Steam Families already has a "same household" check...

it does sound dangerous though that removing the creator of the family share group can be done by anyone within the group.
Anyone added as an adult can remove anyone else in the Family Group. All adults share the same permissions.
It doesn't have to mean it was due to a compromised account. It could mean someone just wanted to know what would happen if they tried.
Only add people you trust 100% as adults to your own Family Group.
ussally features are better left a default off then on. for example when you add an adult account to a family share, it should automatically not have permissions to remove anyone from the group, and a tick box should be required to change it , only able to be preformed by the group creator.
