This would be my background music:

You paid for a personal use license. You did not pay for a broadcast/streaming license which would be VASTLY more expensive, hundreds if not thousands of dollars per month. Are you willing to pay that because Valve won't. You would need a broadcast/steaming license to be able to play that music for the potentially hundreds to millions of people that "might" view your profile.
It's also very annoying to people to go to some page and have music playing, there is a reason why myspace died and why most browsers try to stop sound from auto playing. I'm usually always playing something on TV or on my computer already and to have music play just because I go to someones profile would be super annoying.
It wouldnt be youtube videos, official soundtracks bought from the steam store; by checking your game it doesnt have an ost dlc so you wouldnt be able to showcase it.
Thats why there would be an option for autoplaying, volume adjust in the parameters by default it would be disable and a mediaplayer would show up under the profile so if you wanna listen to it by choice.
I was just joking
I don't think profile music would be a good idea.
i know its annoying for some people, thats why i said there would be an option if you wanna autoplay it everytime you check a profile also with license the workaroung would be making samples buyable in the steam point shop for you to broadcast/stream in the profile.
Valve would also have to invest in licensing to broadcast the music. Even if it's restricted to that music for sale on the Store, Valve doesn't also have the right to make it available for free through a media player.
It could be not, that is why its a suggestion/idea to see what people would think about it. But there are ways for it to be implemented i guess.
Dont know how you make things for the steam point shop if you pay for thing to be added if points spend give you money, but if you make a sample in there you agreed for it being broadcasted in profiles.
Also i said it would be disabled by default, if code is coding it would check if you had the autoplay feature on before starting to play it.
We now live in the world where GTA has to update their game to remove songs from it because of expired licensing.
