[Suggestion] RTS Fest : Suggest tried-and-true RTS AND new stuff.
The whole thing is just a promotion for new new new.
Which I get. It's important to promote new games, new ideas, new development.

But the fact that titles and packs like Command & Conquer, Age of Empires II, Supreme Commander have no advertisements in this sale?

Valve dropped the ball. Maybe next time instead of letting marketing and product sales drive the promotion, get people involved who actually play and understand RTS. Y'all fumbled this hard and it's embarrassing to see Steam move away from grassroots gaming. :bodybag:

It's like literature : you have to bring people into the genre first with the "classics" before you go trying to push new titles.

The store has no reason to advertise a game you already own to you.

Age of Empires 2 is in the big thing at the top of the sale for me. Command & Conquer is not, because I already own the entire series on Steam.

...sigh... there it is.

I see Age of Empires 2 prominently displayed, probably because I have it wishlisted: https://i.imgur.com/oEzxPya.png

Square Enix doesn't appear to have opted Supreme Commander series into the fest. EA didn't opt in any of the C&C franchise. They can be found during a search on the Fest page, but since those publishers decided not to join the promotion, those games are not being promoted like the others.

Publishers often have to opt their games into the Fests and choose to discount their games during those Fests. Valve doesn't do it for them. Valve creates the event on Steam, let's the publishers know when to expect them, and provides links to the publishers to assign their games to them. Here is the latest announcement of upcoming events:

Notice the very first line under the headline: "Registration now open!"

Mate you can f@#k right off with your placation.

Valve dropped the ball. The week is not even into the completion of RTS Fest, and it's already bumped down from the main marquee by Final Fantasy VII Afterbirth.

Nobody on the consumer end gets notices about registration for these things so it's a null point. Thank you for the nothing-contribution, but please continue making facetious posts as I'm sure you regularly do.

Again : Valve dropped the ball on promoting RTS.
If these games aren't on the list: you might as well not have initiated the event to begin with.
If these publishers did not sign-on for the event, it should've been postponed or called off altogether until they're willing to play ball.

It's the Steam RTS fest, not the Steam Supreme Commander And Maybe Some Other Games If They're On Board fest

Valve isn't going to cancel the plans of thousands of game developers because one decided they'd rather not show up

thousands of game developers

Yeaaaah. That's not what turned out for the RTS Fest. But you keep on posting!
Valve oonly organises it, the game devs/publishers decide whether they partake or not.

If they don't, they're the ones who dropped the ball.

Keep in mind that "games I want to see partake aren't" isn't actually a compelling argument whether such a fest is neat or not.
Valve does invite games they think are a good fit for the sale, and game developers can apply to add their game even if not directly invited, but at the end of the day it's up to the game developer whether they accept the invitation or not. Valve doesn't forcibly put games in sales.

Thanks for your understanding and well wishes. Much love to you and yours.

Having said that, I'll try to use smaller words and ELI5:

Valve make event.

Valve tell gamer maker "here event. plz join"

Gamer maker say yes or no.

Valve take yeses, put in event. Ignore noes.

Make sense now?

Devs are basically given a list of annual events, the Devs/Publishers can choose to opt in or not. Simple as that.

Dev/Publisher choice what event to join when they don't make the event, simple as that.
