steam games trading
i know this may be an impossible idea but it worth discussing

having games trading and\or buying from a player to another would be so good
and it has to be with some restrictions , like you can't trade games with a player from another country , or trade a game immediately after you bought it or got it from trading , and you have to wait like 60 days to do so , and you can only get games from another user by using steam credit , and with selling games you only get money as a credit in steam , and you can't trade gifted or redeemed games

this is just to avoid 3rd party BS

and it will be a useful perk you get as a steam user
you know "actually owning the game " XD
thanks for reading my idea

And what exactly would be the benefits for Valve, developers and publishers? I mean, I get the benefits for users, but those aren't always the most important ones.

that's a good point...
didn't think about this one , but having something other companies don't , will encourage people
to use steam more as a "player friendly" platform.

but i know , that is not a big benefit
so yeah , i guess i agree with you

You mean so that Epic games or any other company that hate's Valve / Steam can use to try and sue them for being a "monopoly"? as they like to claim.

Also steam doesn't need to add something like that in order to attract users to Steam
It's been discussed to death, you should search on trading. It basically won't happen unless its required by law because it would cannibalize game sales and drive developers off the platform.

There are two users to steam, Developers and us, and steam has to cater to both of them with features like family sharing. The ability to sell games would massively undercut developers resulting in BILLIONS in lost sales.

It's been discussed multiple times, the things is developers have been actively trying to terminate the second hand game market, as it reduces their sales (A second hanf game bought is a new game not sold) and only consoles survive because of necessity (They still need B&M stores to sell the consoles).

The first question this suggestion faces is "What's in for Steam and the devs to enable a user-ruled secondary store next to their game store?"

The second is "How could steam tackle the problems derived from the absolute lack of friction that resale of digital licenses represent?"

i'm sorry to bring it up again , after all i'm just exploring steam and trying everything in it.

and yeah after thinking and reading all the comments , there is no benefit for the devs.
so it's a bad idea.

and in the first place i should've thought about a simpler idea to discuss..
Imagine people who get scammed not just complaining they lost their inventory but also every single game they had

what if someone downloads a story game, beats it, and re sells it? that wouldn't be good for valve, the devs, and may result in more "cheap steam game" scams. you could capitalize on this frfr if you buy at a REALLY low deal, sell it at its normal price, repeat. Steam is a user focused platform enough, and this being added could make devs leave steam.
