Perhaps if your countries economy recovers they will restore the Lira, but the odds of the steam deck being sold locally are basically 0. Steam doesn't sell products to many regions because they don't have distribution channels like big physical retailers.

Perhaps dont remove something that has been a thing for the past decade. I'm not saying they should but Valve could take responsibility as a consumer friendly company about this subject and find a suitable fix to the problem.

They did.

Turkish users aren't their only customers, and lira was bad for Valve and all the developers/publishers (their other customers) selling games.

Unfortunately (for you) removal of Turkish Lira in favour of more stable currency, was deemed an suitable fix.

A suitable fix is for your country to fix its own economic problems. Consumer friendly is one thing. Stupid business decisions - such as attempting to support a volatile currency - is something else.

I don't think you guys get what I'm trying to say. Wasn't trying to be unreasonable and I'm not judging or getting mad about Turkish Lira got removed. Of course it technically solved the problem, but the problem was mainly about foreigners buying games using Turkish Lira by using some exploits. I just wish Steam did something like Nintendo did with Argentina store. Something like you can only buy with Turkish Lira if you use a credit card from Turkey. Again, I know that Turkish Lira isn't stable at all and of course it would be more hassle to do all this instead of just removing the currency. With 2.8 million people using Steam in Turkey, it would be great to have the currency back even if the price of a game comes out as same as Euro or U.S Dollar does. I just wanted to post my thoughts on this and again, i genuinely understand reasons behind why Lira was removed.

It will be a while before Valve looks into this and possibly decoupling any of the countries from the new regions.

This is why Valve no longer accepts TL and demands USD instead.

You explicitly asked for it to be re-added and asked Valve to find a solution. They did.

Region hopping was one facet, the currency rapidly losing value the bigger issue. Oversimplifying the problem doesn't make your argument stronger. It just makes it look like you're clueless, or dishonest.

A lot of people using a volatile currency just makes it a bigger problem and a bigger hassle. At any rate there's lots of ways to address the issue, none of them are wrong, and you're free to have an opinion what you would do if you were calling the shots. Valve calls the shots on Steam, and they made a decision years ago. If you like how other stores handle the lira, use them instead.

I may look clueless from outside to you, but you kinda aggressive towards this. As you can see, I won't stop using Steam. I also find your argument fair and reasonable. I still don't think I oversimplified though.
Well you did grossly oversimplify the issue. Claiming it's mainly about region hopping and ignoring all the other facets is the definition of oversimplification.

And it's not like you're the first lira/peso user to ask for their volatile currencies to be re-added because blah. So it's not the first time this has been explained. You're just customer #1,000.

I can't help how you feel about the weakness of your arguments being exposed. But now you know there's some problems, you have an opportunity to fix that even if you think I'm a meanie.

Looking at your track record, you spend a lot of time here. There is no need to lengthen this conversation. You have your reason to disagree and I understand. Also don't expect the same coming towards you. That doesn't mean my argument is weak or exposed. The world doesn't evolve around this. It's not a post created personally for you to come and sh*t on. I think you are a great person, not a meanie. But you got the warrior spirit when it comes to arguments.

Simply put, you are not a Valve employee. You are not a moderator. If you disagree, you disagree. If you agree, you agree. Nothing deeper than that. Me understanding your point of view doesn't mean that I don't stick to my argument. You are not don't know it all, so do I.

The same can be said for you.

This is a discussion forum. You should expect others with different opinions than yours are going to reply and "discuss" the topic with you.

And this is not an echo chamber to solicit yes-men to your suggestion. You can still maintain your position while others are explaining their own.

I love to discuss but I just felt it was becoming a bit personal so that's why I wanted to stop it. Again, I read and understood what he was trying to say and I respect his opinion. If everyone said yes-men we wouldn't even had to argue about this in the first place.
