Save slots on PC depend on whether or not the game has implemented them. There are several games that provide multiple save slots. That's not something Steam can solve.
How, when, where and how many save slots game allows is entirely up to the developer of the game. Steam has nothing to do with it. Some games are designed to only have single save slot to make it harder (most rogue likes for example). That is by design. I you have any complaints about how a game saves work on particular game, send the complaints to the developer of the game as they are the only ones that can change it.
the other consoles wich is the same as steam... like 360, one, plastation give this possibility by using a pen drive... why steam could not do this ? this would't warm their benefits i guess.. and would alow peoples using diferent slots to only play in your particular slot,
obs. peoples already can use the same account on steam in a remote pc... just not playing game at the same time... so this would only make things get more aacesible for players
rawWwRrr yes games have this issues but... consoles always gives a way for peoples play in diferent slots... since the bengining... ps2... its only stops use memory card and change for storage device... maybe you had never played on a console like xbox one or etc besides steam....
well Anonymous Helper if you noticed... almost none game maybe 2 % of games haves give this own option... the solution is gived by years ago... on ps1 startig using memory cards... games dont have this own option if you notice, in modern games it only chaange for external hd or pen drive...
thisis vey coomum i myself use to use the same game... and have diferent slots for me and my brother on 360... this doen't warm steam in nothing....

I highly doubt PC gamers would like of games requiring external drives, memory cards or thumb drives to save their game. Also would still be responsibility of the developers as they dictate how their game's save system work. Valve has no power over game developer's development decisions.

And no, Steam and consoles are not the thing. Consoles are closed platform where the console creator dictates what can be done with it and how. PC's are open platform developers can do what ever they want as long as it's not illegal. There's billions of different PC's (no two computers are the same) while on consoles there is (generally) one set of hardware and software (preinstalled) per console generation.

Microsoft controls both hardware and software in the regard of their consoles. Steam does neither, PC is open.

It doesn't change that game devs are responsible for how they program their game.
Anonymous Helper i dont mean inside the game, i know steam could not make changes on games itselfs, i mean outside the games... a interface made properly for only peoples who wants to play in a diferent slot, if a 2 person or a 3 wants to play on your pc... lets says resident evils, nor of resident evil have this option, so this visit who wants to play on your pc, will be obligated to play on your own save slot, this is a simple adjust, , i am saying because my brother came to my house once...and i say haaa ok play on my save slot... because it doen1t have another option

Games that support Steam Cloud already do this. You just need to not share a Steam account with another person and use Steam Families for what it's made for.

You have multiple options.

  • Separate steam accounts and family sharing.
  • Separate game installations per OS user account.
  • Separate saves folder (set in OS for different user accounts; have to disable steam cloud for the given game).
  • Folder permission manipulation.

Just to name a few.

didnt know this, i will check
wojo, i got you mam but if steam could create a little interface in the program itself.... we would not have to log into microsoft another account... this woulbe be more simple
ben lubar, i alwas check this option in the config of the game, it only shows the size of the gbs or mb you have avaible for keeping save yourr game, it doens't show a option to other save slots

Valve cannot dictate how developers have to provide functionality, nor force the implementation of certain functionality.

Your suggestion is not feasible for Valve to implement because games on PC follow no set convention on how to store save files.
