Access and buy things from Valve's Merchandise Store - all from the client
I only discovered the Merchandise Store (sells physical objects like t-shirts, mugs and plushies) by accident when I scrolled all the way to the bottom of the front Store page on the Steam client. Some of that stuff is way cool.

Two changes I would like to see are:

(1) Access the merch from the client, you cannot access the webpage from the Steam client, which is annoying (possible bug?).

(2) Using my payment details already on Steam to buy some of the cool things on that site, and to use the Steam Wishlist feature with this as well.

Website for anyone wondering: http://store.valvesoftware.com/index.php

Even with both being run by Steam, they are different stores, subject to different regulations. That's why they are independent.

What different regulations could force them to keep the stores seperate?

I'd bet that different consumer laws applies regarding whether or not you sell licences (Steam store) or physical goods (merchandise store).

True, they could up its position on the store, but it may take away spotlight from new releases.

Does this even exist though? There maybe such regulation, but I never heard of it.

Pretty much nearly big online store sells that specialises in physical goods also off some non-tagnible product or license to something. Cannot see why Steam can't go about this in reverse.

OK, I get the point that Valve might not want to take user's attention from gaming, but they can they really lose by allowing us to buy physical stuff off Steam? Heck, can't the link even open up the webpage on our designated favourite browser?
