Add birthday in our steam profile
The birthday could be added in our steam profile. Some games requires us to enter our birthday to see content that is available for our age...But everytime I try to watch one of these pages, I honestly don't enter my birthday anymore because it takes time and all I really want is to take a look at the page...

If they use the birtday for statistics of age group that are looking at the store, You'd rather have the birthday inside the profile (hidden to public). So we don't have to enter our date multiple times for nothing.

Since most of the time, the page is only trying to check if we're 18 years old or more, I usually only change the date to get at least 18 years old. With dates in the profile, you're likely to have much more accurate data if any kind of profiling is done behind the scene and the use of steam will be more transparent to the users that are already 18 years old.

You mean like Reddit has their cake days? No thanks, every entitled snowflake will be clogging up the boards demanding a gift for their birthday.

But I would agree to having that private to bypass the annoying age clarification page when looking at games.

The age gate is supposed to work that way. Notice that steam do stores your birth date on such age gates, but you're still required to click to enter.

That's due to game-rating boards regulations (ESRB, PEGI)

If we had birthdays, than this would happen.. "January 1, 2015: The day Steam dos attacked itself with birth day notifications."

It would actually be pretty silly.

good idea but with profiles that did not come in over 1,000 days, you need to add the date of death

What's the bad idea? I'm not talking about notifications or anything... just skip the page that forces us to enter our birthday every time you want to watch the store page.

According to Tito, they can't :

Since skipping the page would be breaking the local law, this can't be done, no matter how much you insist.

Maybe just have it save when you are logged in on the website and just have to press enter. That would work for me.

Edit: Nevermind it does. lol

Hmm, perhaps adding birthdays and decide whether it will display or not. If that were to happen, then maybe they can show special offers to someone's birthday and ONLY that person. If you want it display, thats fine. Though if you have alot of friends, you will probably have ALOT of messages from friends that they only wanted to say "Happy Birthday!" lol :P

Let me create 365 free Steam accounts to get special discounts and offers every day of the year.
Benefits for being your birthday is simply not going to happen. It's too prone to abuse.

Actually it doesn't store my birthday date. That's why I have to enter it multiple times. I guess it might be saved as a cookie but from time to time the cookie might expire and the date has to be entered again. Since I use multiple computers, it's also possible that when logging in to a different steam, the cookies gets invalidated in some ways... I can't say exactly why but for me the date is usually not saved and I have to reselect it.

I've seen several people say that the date isn't saved in the client. I think there may be a bug there, but it would have to be reported by someone who suffers from the problem.

If discount cannot be gifted then it wouldn't be that bad. And to change a birthday date, you'd have to have it manually changed by support using a proof of your birthday like a copy of passport for exemple. It's not really hard to verify. Usually people don't often change their birthday date a lot in their life. Abuse can be detected easily in theory. Using an id to prove your age could also prevent people from creating multiple accounts...

I'm quite aware that it's due to game rating and obviously having the date in the profile would make a lot more sense. If you enter a date below 18 years old, you will get access revoked to some page for around an hour... Tell me what's the logic behind that? Any kid is smart enough to just change the date to something higher to get access to the page in an hour. If the age would be set in the profile, it could be prevented to change the date later without a proof of id.

Which means that kids won't be able to get access to 18+ page shop. Yes when I was a kind we had to provide our own ids in actual shop to buy 16+ games if we didn't look like 16+. If we didn't have 16+ we couldn't buy the games. On that end, the way steam "regulate" age check is pretty bad.

Also, Steam doesn't save the date. I have to enter it usually. I guess that it changes whenever I disconnect/reconnect to steam. It's hard to say exactly but I guess it's just steam saving cookies and they expire after some times or when the cache is cleared for some reasons... steam updates or whatever.
