Location restrictions and gift giving.
I went to buy my friend a game who is not restricted by his country to buy and play games... I bought a game from USA steam and they sent him an Asia restricted game that can only be played by people in Asia. I do live in Thailand, but games here are not cheaper than they are in The West. In fact the reason I play PC is because Hard copies of games are 10 to 20 dollars more than in the west because of import tax.

With that said why can't you send a region specific copy to the person I'm gifting? If the said copy is more money, you can say before buying that in order to send this gift you must pay 10.99 more due to the gift receiver's location.. or something like that.

the game I bought was the same price as the west and no such warning was given till after I bought. Now I'm stuck with a copy of a game I don't want or don't plan on playing that I can't use.

Add gift giving location compatibility. Look at the gift receivers location and charge accordingly or add or take away the location restrictions. I'm sure its not a hard fix.

what game are you referring to. regional restrictions are put in place by publishers. Also the store pages are very clear when you purchase a game that it is region restricted.

Notice: Purchases made in Thailand are only playable in Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

Note you cannot buy a game from 'USA Steam' if you live in Thailand. You bought a Thai version because that is where you reside.

yes I know but I bought a game through the USA steam without a warning because I am a USA Citizen.. I tried to buy from Thai but saw the regional restrictions I was then referred to give the gift through steam USA because the game was not for myself.. I was in steam USA when I purchased gift without any warning and I also have pictures to back this up with side by side comparisons . I would have never bought the game if I was given a warning.

Click this in
http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=us and you get connected to steam USA...
I contacted Steam and they told me about http://steampowered.com/?cc=us mechanism and allowed me to buy games from abroad.

All they have to do is see the Gift receivers Country and Make it so you pay for the price of there Region or send them there regions game.
