No more games with Mastercard in Sweden
The banks and our IRS want us to ID ourself for our purchases.
The bad about this is that when I try to use Mastercard from Sweden they want
me to have Mobil BankID. That means you need to have modern mobilphone or a tablet.
Mobil BankID dont work on stationary computers.
So no more purchases from Sweden if you have BankID on file at a stationary computer.
This is really sick. BankID is a company who seperates their app between mobilphones and tablets with stationary computers. You must have a modern phone or a tablet to use Mastercard to buy games. This was made in the latest days. Have never had any problems before.l
Now i have to use Paypal? Or other obscure methods to pay.
Plese Steam - Remove that BankID stuff until they got an app that works on all platforms.
Else nobody cant buy anymore games in Sweden if you have only stationary computer.
Makes me so angry they havent fixed this - Stupid BankID - (Vb programmers:) lol
Just wanted to let you know my anger last 24 hours.
Revoked.

Nothing to do with Valve/Steam.

Your banks and IRS have made that decision for you and you must provide ID to be able to use a credit card as payment.

Steam can't remove laws from your country that they don't like. As you stated there are other payment methods you can use that aren't very difficult to set up until your government figures its stuff out.

Valve only complies with the rules that were set by the powers that be in your country.

Valve has to comply with the laws of your country.

Your issue is with the banks and IRS of your country who require ID.

Oddly in your OP post you highlight this whilst ignoring it.

Steam has to accept it, or stop doing business in your country.....

Yeah mate. I'm on the same boat as you. I do have a modern phone but I've so far avoided having to install BankID on it. This really sucks and it's really recent too. It did one time give me an option to validate the purchase through SMS, though.

if your bank requires bankid verfication for a foreign transaction, guess what. You're going to have to use BankID

You're free to go scream at your bank for that requirement

The issue seems to be more with you than with steam. Don't blame steam fora problem of your own creation

OP didn't create this issue. It's something completely new so it's normal for some people to be caught completely off-guard.

So is it not possible to just buy some cheap prepaid phone and use that? Because if all it requires is a fairly modern phone/tablet then it should be an easy (enough) fix.

Or am I missing something here because to me this just seems like another "don't have a phone so can't use the Steam Mobile Guard app" problem.

It isn't about the Steam mobile app.

That really sucks, but Steam has its own cards too you can buy Steam cards in common stores like Gamestop and buy games that way.

Anyone knows if this is the result of new legislation or what?

It's just BS that certain politicians make to sell even more smartphones, control / spy people even more and things like those.
