[Suggestion]Unhide hidden achievements
This is just a small suggestion, I think players should have the option to unhide hidden achievements on games older than a year or 2. At that point it's the players' own discretion if they spoil themselves on any lore-based achievements.
This unhide toggle would only affect the player who unhid it, other players who see their achievements won't see the unhidden unobtained achievements, the same as it is now.

Its 100% up to the developer to hide or unhide achievements. Even if Valve cared about achievements, which they don't, they would not unhide or provide a way for people to unhide achievements after some time. That is 100% up to the developer of the game to do it. They hid them for their own reason, either for a surprise or to not spoil stuff or even just to see if people can get them all and maybe give them something special in game like a unique skin or something.

You are limited to searching a search engine for a list of hidden achievements in X game. Valve is not going to change that.
Couldn't you do this already from the client?
Library > "insert game name here" > View My Achievements > Global Achievements > select any hidden achievement > Click to show spoiler

The core mechanic in Steam's UI of hiding achievements is a flag usable by the developer. The developer chooses which ones are hidden, but steam gives us the ability to unhide them through the global, as someone else just said. This proves its a core Steam UI not just a developer only thing. In other words it's possible to make a toggle that allows us to see hidden achievements client-side if we wish. Not an unreasonable thing for customization.

As I just noted, yes this is an option, but it's also temporary, I have to keep going back to look if I want to, and I don't want to. I want the ability to unhide them in MY client-side achievements list, not temporarily unhide them for the duration I'm looking at the global list of everyone who's played the game.

And nothing I said said that valve could not do it. I said they won't. Valve put the mechanic in and left it up to the game developers to use it or not. Valve won't put a switch in to make them be visible. Putting a switch in to make them visible counters the wishes of the game developers.

They made them hidden for what ever their reason is. If you really want to find them, use a search engine search.

Valve already provides the ability to unspoiler hidden achievements, so there's already a "switch" to make them visible. I don't see any reason why it would be 'ok' if it's temporary, but permanent somehow crosses a line.

It should be at the user's discretion and I don't even think the age of the game needs to be considered. If I click to make it visible it, leave it unspoiled unless I click on it again or what have you to re-apply the spoiler.

I still don't see the need to make them visible all the time. Click on it, look at it, heck take a screenshot with a program like Xshare if you want to keep looking at it for what ever reason.

I guess I just don't personally care about trying to get achievements or care that they are hidden. If I need to see something like that, I click it, look at it, and then go on my way.

Other then seeing them on my profile or popup in game, I can't remember the last time I even bothered to look at achievements. I didn't even know or remember there was a button to show them.

I still stick by what I said, I don't see Valve putting something like this in, the developers wanted to keep them hidden, so having a button that perma makes them visible goes against what the devs wanted.

In the end Valve will either do something or do nothing. Just don't count on them doing anything any time soon. Then again who knows, there is an update for the client coming maybe its in there already. Again don't count on it.

Okay you already said your piece, you don't "personally care" about the feature, but obviously some of us do care about it. If enough of us care about it, chances are it might actually get put in.

If the groundwork is already there for a temporary reveal, then it shouldn't be hard to just make it a permanent toggle for us that do want it.
