When Will Mojang Create a Store Page of Minecraft on Steam?
Notch refused to do that a decade ago but the development team is now under the successful guidance of Microsoft, which is already enough of a reason for VALVe and Mojang to negotiate considering in what way Minecraft is leading to, it would only make sense to have it on Steam. It might even boost the playercount and it is profitable both by Steam and especially Mojang doubling the sales so they can spend more of it on the game tuning up its quality, everyone wins.

Send a mail to Mojang. Valve will not force them.

Why do you think I haven't? It'd be beneficial to both of them so I made this thread motivating Steam to get the pros with no downsides, someone needs to make first steps.

Valve doesn't reach out to devs.

Probably never. It's their biggest moneymaker in the franchise. Why split the revenue with Valve?

On top of that, it would be the Windows version too. Ewwwwwwwwwwww .

They actually do.

:summercat2023:
How'd they split anything if they sell Minecraft outside of Steam and put it on Steam in addition?

Valve takes a cut of every sale on Steam.

So what you're saying is that selling only outside of Steam would be more of a financial gain than selling Minecraft on both platforms at the same time?

To keep all profits and to have it on the Microsoft store, yes.

They've sold over 300 million copies already.

And we also don't know if the contract Notch made had a clause to keep it off Steam.

Why you think a 8.997$ fee will make a difference in a negative way if 300 millions already bought Minecraft and will likely buy it again on Steam? Have optional cosmetic perks everyone is after outside of Steam so more users buy the game off their site and you won't lose anything.

Not for putting games on their platform.

Any value above 0 makes all the difference.

People already purchase multiple copies outside of Steam.

And we still don't know what details were in Notch's contract with MS. I wouldn't put it past him to add the "No Steam" clause to it.

You should try the minecraft feedback page. It'll be more visible to minecraft, and users can upvote the suggestion if they like it.

A big thing with Minecraft is the mod-able nature of it. Doing this purchase cosmetics defeats the purpose.
