Proton layer for macOS and iPadOS should be available.
Even though Steam OS is Linux, it can run games for Windows thanks to the proton layer technology. I wish programs like Proton Layer could be developed for macOS and iPadOS as well.

Proton is just Valve's branch of Wine and Valve submits their patches back to mainline Wine.

A cursory search reveals there's an analogous translation layer called Darling that'll run MacOS programs on Linux.

Wine requires both 64 and 32 bit x86 support. I'm guessing iPads don't support any variety of x86.

proton is a pile of .. I would say something now, but people might think it's fertile ground.
