Hide certain portions of your profile
You should be able to hide a portion of your profile or a specific game you have from being able to be seen by other users.
So let's say I want to get the game Hyperdimension Neptunia, but I don't want my friends to be able to see that game on my profile or in the "____ is now playing ____" pop up because I know they will get the wrong idea about it. This feature would prevent the game from appearing on my profile and when I start playing it, the pop-up my friends will see will read "____ is now playing a game."

Actually he's right. All that bloat.. just because you're afraid your friends will tease you over a game? Dude. Private, friends only or public. Pick one.

I already figured out a solution to "friends tease me for playing a game" its called "unfriend".
Most of us figured that out by age 9. If it's a case of your friend bugging you every time you want to have a private game with someone... just tell them straight up. If you can't say "Yo, m8 just having a private game with someone else right now... frag with you anothe rtime eh?' to someone you call friend. Then you have very poor taste in friends. Any friend will understand that.

It's not that, them asking me to play isn't a problem as I only play multiplayer in civ 5 and portal 2. It's I don't want them to be able to see that I have a certain game in my inventory. And I have good taste in my friends, that's not for you to judge.
Ok, here's another scenario, I want to make it so that everyone can see my game inventory and stuff but only wnt my friends to be able to see my real name, and my facebook information.

Then pray tell. Why are you so concerned about them seeing a particular game hmm? I mean assuming your friends are diligently checking your games list weekly.. what are you afraid of if they see it. I mean if they had some weird tentacle hentai games on steam I could understand.

Again...just set it friends only. Problem solved. i mean honestly would anyone other than your friends even be looking?

COme to think of it... there's only one scenario that makes pragmatic sense to an adult. You're not trying to hide your library or play time from a friend. more like you're trying to hide something from a parent.
Or a manager or teacher.

Hmmm. a manager wouldn't make self. Most don't know their employee's well enough to care what games they're playing. And if the manager is ina position to see, well he's basically self-incriminating himself of the same no?. A teacher again... most don't bother with students oce they leave their class room.
Well I've heard of companies checking out their employees' Facebook profiles. So this would be akin to that. I presume some stricter private schools might also do similar things.

??? And why would they be interested in what video games people play?

To dig up potential dirt on them, or possibly to check on their productivity remotely.

Teachers or employers? Employers look at Facebook pages because they can see what type of person they are...if it is an important job and every picture on Facebook shows the person ♥♥♥♥-faced at a party...they might take that as signs of an irresponsible employee.

As far as Teachers...they don't really have a reason and checking a Steam profile to check on their productivity isn't an efficient way to do that.

Either way, if people are REALLY worried about that kind of stuff...that is why there is a private profile setting.
nice

Men without Hats created a nice song just for such problems.

Your friends don't dance and if they don't dance then they're...
What..... How did this even becoome related?

You know, you could just create a 2nd Steam acount for those guilty pleasure games you don't want others to know you have.

....... I've already thought of that, and have done that, but it's a hassle and feel that it is a feature that should be implemented in the future.
