Steam Points have no monetary value. Just like you can't use them to pay your bills, game devs can't either.

And what does Steam get out of it?

digital resell value is 0.00001 cents per game.

Sure, that will happen as soon as you accept that your employer pays you in Steampoints as well.

So if you buy game A for $50 and then you trade game A in for points and buy game B for a $10 dollar discount explain how the publisher of game B benefits from that? You literally just handed them less money then they were asking for simply because you had a game from someone else earlier. That is one of the main issues here. To give you a discount they would have to either force a publisher to accept the loss, which the publisher isn't going to do and in fact would likely either pull their games from Steam, or sue Valve; or Valve will have to pay directly for the discount themselves and that would mean that they would make less money for each purchase and not more so I don't see why they'd do that.

Game devs/publishers killed the second hand market on purpose, they were already doing so before Steam even came to existence.

Unless laws regarding digital content and licensing changes, something like this is very unlikely to come to be. It's not wanted by game devs, publishers and platform holders.

Heck, even consoles are going the way of digital only versions.

Nintendo has been working at that ever since the NES.

And who is going to pay the developer those 10 bucks? Create them from nothing? Someone has to pay and i see no reason why Valve should foot the bill.

Valve isn't going to cannibalize their primary market by creating a less profitable secondary market. There's a reason why no other online game distributor is doing that either.

Just ship back your used digital copy of the game and when the devs receive it they will give you %10 of the cost back and the devs will resell that used digital copy for %70 since it is in used condition. Now both benefits from it :happy_yeti:

you have like 2 hours of play and 14 days to decide whether you want to return the game or not, if that's not enough for you to realize that you dont like certain game then idk what is
