My Suggestion for Suggestions

I would like to suggest that this Suggestions/Ideas board is deleted entirely. There are over 81,871 threads in this Sub-Forum, and most of them were never responded to or implemented, with just a few taken action toward. Why not save some data space on the server and just be rid of this whole mess of Suggestion threads?

Just go for it Valve, delete this entire Suggestion/Ideas Sub-Forum, including my Suggestion here, and then start up an entirely new Suggestion/Ideas board within a week afterward (let's just take a one-week sabbatical from even having a Suggestions/Ideas board in the interim).

And if you don't like my Suggestion, well then you're adding one more Suggestion to the pile of 81,871 threads, and yet another statistic for Suggestions not acted upon, not to mention the useless data that will continue to pile up on your servers.

However, if you do feel inspired to act upon my Suggestion here, and you do Delete it all and stand up a brand new Sub-Forum, howabout giving it a new, unique name? Such as: "Cheers" or "Groot" or something odd but just one word. A word that makes people think..."what's that Sub-Forum about?" - and they click into it. Real click-bait material, packaged in a single word.

Have an event at the Steam home page, a competition to name the new Sub-Forum, with prizes for the winner. And then you may get more participation, and sincere Suggestions here, than you have in years.

This is a half-hearted, half-serious, half-joking Suggestion (and that adds up to 1.5 halves which is mathematically impossible but anything is possible in the art of gaming, right?). Ok, I've done all that I can to show you what to do Valve, the rest is up to you. And feel free to borrow my meatball if it helps inspire change.

Seems like you are "fed up" with the suggestion forum, your suggestion is not feasible and will never materialize in this universe.

The most appropriate name for the suggestions forum is "Suggestions" why make people have to guess what it's for and end up posting spam in the wrong place ?

The forum serves it's purpose. No suggestion or idea posted here is guaranteed to be enacted, responded / replied to, or even read... the 2 main purposes are:
1. Providing a catch-all location for anyone who has an idea to throw it in here - reducing spam in other areas.
2. Discussion of those ideas - and maybe some that gain attention might be seen and partially used to make Steam better.

If you don't want to read, post, or discuss any suggestions then you are completely able to not do that by yourself.. there is no reason to delete something just because you personally don't use it.

there's so many problems with the suggestion/idea subforum that nuking it from orbit often feels the only viable option.

Basically you would post your idea/suggestion as best you could, and that would be it...

No more trolling or trolls speaking for Valve, no more arguments, no more mind numbingly stupid comments, etc.

That would be called an echo chamber, they already punish and ban people who try to ruin it for others.

Also OP i've had steam implement idea's i've suggested, not to mention if the forum didn't exist people would still post suggestions, they would just do it in the other forums instead.

That's how suggestion boxes work almost everywhere. Lots of people throw loads of them of all kinds and shapes daily. Just an itty tiny bit of them ever get into actual features. And for the most part no one ever receives 'official' feedback on their suggestions.

Sure it feels like talking to a wall for the most part. But specifically here we have to deal with one of the less talkative company that's out there.

We have trade subforums because people are going to post trade regardless. Removing the forum won't remove the people's need to post.

Suggestions are not Orders.
Valve never directly responds on just about any forum for the most part, and lets be frank, most suggestions are ♥♥♥♥♥ with a very large perdcentage boiling down to 'Gimme free stuff/money'.

The good ideas however do get implemented.

Yep, they did implement my suggestion recently when they added the ability to block people directly from the forum post so they definitely listen.

They also added the ability to take game-specific notes directly in the client, which was a suggestion I would not have guessed they'd implement but they did and it's awesome.

I would have never thought (and said likewise in the forums) they would implement things like paying with bitcoins or selling movies on the Steam Store. Sure neither of those ended up working, but they added them and tried.
