You said it now me.
PPL DEMAND CONTINUOUS, ARGHHHHHHHH
Or are you saying this *particular* word is *particularly* "derogatory", hence it should be banned?
Have you ever thought about the idea that words only have any power whatsoever because we give them power? I went to school with a kid who had some... issues. He didn't care when other kids teased him and called him terrible things like "re-tard" or "idiot" or any of that, but someone discovered one day that calling him a "pop tart" or a "cheese curl" would set him right off. He'd lose it entirely, which was pretty much the response they were looking for.
Like I said, terrible, but it goes to show that just like "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" so too "offense is in the mind of the offended". Words are just sounds, and I can't get behind trying to ban particular combinations of them in any way, sorry. I'm sorry you or whoever got insulted, but banning certain sounds isn't going to stop you from feeling offended in the future at... whatever offends you.
Most Japanese will think that word is totally fine because they are Japanese and that they are quite happy to know that people from other countries like Japan even more than their own country and introduce Japanese culture to the world. So in other words, people who are not Japanese but act like one is totally fine, it is considered an honor.
The Internet as we know it today is full of people acting like that. Maybe they feel great about themselves right now, a lot of people have not reach the advanced stage of emotional development to realize that what they are doing is wrong.
Since this word is wrong and that you might feel offended by it, then you will have to deal with them and block whoever mention those words. I block whoever call me by some rude names or judge me on what I play. Like that one guy who told me once; "You play Dragon Ball? WTF! What are you 12?" and that was the last time he talked to me. Too bad, he seemed like a nice friend, but I guess I was wrong since he had to judge me on the game I was playing.
Same goes for calling someone an Otaku. What's the issue? Grow a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pair it's the internet. And honestly, it's steam not 4chan this place is innocent as ♥♥♥♥.
