upvote/downvote steam comments

add upvotes and downvotes to steam community forum comments. this would allow people to praise quality posts or downvote negative or off topic posts. it may also help with the clown emoji epidemic on the forums, as people would only downvote rather than giving clown awards

Suggesting forums to be like Reddit is just a horrible idea.

if you want to 'fight' the clown awards situation, the only solution is to remove all awards entirely.

As with all the other threads on this topic, which you could have read if you had used the search feature, this is pretty much never going to happen.

Valve had this feature in their old forums, when they made these discussion forums, they left that out because it was heavily abused in the old forums.

Just look at how bad the awards are, "up/down votes" will be just as bad. It will just be another thing that scammers and spammers use.

Also the tolls would LOVE this feature. Down vote actually useful threads/posts, upvote junk threads/posts. Don't like someone, get all their troll friends to downvote all the threads/posts that person makes.

No this is just a bad idea, just as bad as the awards are which should be removed.

I believe this was on SPUF.

If they chose not to carry it over to here when SPUF died and the forum was merged into the client, you can guess why: It was abused.
