what? you wanna be clear in what you're trying to say to me buddy?
edit: and i don't even know what you're saying with your first line, i said gaming sharing like you do on xbox's home xbox, please read the post fully before commenting toxic stuff
ah i see what you are saying, still that's steam issue not mine and obviously not yours, game sharing is something i do in all platforms and it's harmless. I have verious profiles with their own versions of saves and builds and saved progress including their own captures and social media status and i have to say it's just a better experince if it exists.
Maybe what they can do is ask if you are planning to do family sharing or game sharing at the start, game sharing would require to make your pc the "Home pc" for any accounts, seems simple enough unless use wise you have an objection to it for some reason? Before responding i urge you to see how it works on xbox at least cause psn service is currently down
Just because the way YOU do it is harmless doesn't mean its harmless to allow it. People sell access to accounts, so they have to design features and anticipate and take steps to counter how it would be abused.
It doesn't matter how xbox does it, they are willing to allow illegal sharing because it still means they are selling games on Xbox and people using it are locked into the xbox ecosystem,
PC is not closed like it is on Steam, people can buy games anywhere on other sites, use them on steam, and steam doesn't get a penny. So just because consoles do something someway doesn't mean that way makes sense for PC.
Plus on Xbox they have ultimate power, if you want your game available to Xbox uses you HAVE to do what Xbox says. If you want your game available to PC users you don't need to do whatever steam demands and have multiple competitors that would host your game if Steam tried to strongarm dev's like Xbox does.
ok first of all HOLY MOLY, no one in their right minds is gonna risk upsetting their own user base for a minority of account sellers which are going to do so regardless, and nothing is gonna change that especially of my suggestion which is literally going to require a home pc and online internet connection and permission . And are going to get banned anyway , this is not how a business works plus you are getting extremely off topic and need your facts checked if you think xbox allows illegal sharing. If you have a problem with my suggestion , just say it, no need to go off topic and be combative and conspiracist .
Facts are not conspiracies, your lack of knowledge on the abuse doesn't change that it existed. Nor does your idea make any sense. There is no need to have 5 accounts that you need to share with yourself, and you can easily swap between your accounts with 1 click by saving your sign on. All you do is click change users and you are logged in.
If you made multiple accounts its a self inflicted problem and your suggestion would be widely abused and used to rent out accounts. Something steam takes active steps to limit as much as possible.
again false again, they literally made family sharing not work at once is cause of license agreement that can no be shared which of course is a made up restriction . You are again going completely off topic and discussing family sharing , not to mention taking assumptions as facts.
Also who is saying abuse doesn't exist, i don't understand who you are even talking to at this point but the way business works is that services function as normal ( understand that) while those who break the rules and make mistakes while doing so get banned. If you have a problem with people using different accounts , that's totally fine but don't just say no need for 5 accounts as if you're speaking for rest of the steam player base. Game sharing right now btw which works by having a home system. i'm not going to repeat this but i would suggest you actually learn economics instead of telling valve how to function as a company. Good day and good bye.
That is the crux of your issue, your so blinded by what YOU want that your not capable of seeing that for the majority of people the changes are an improvement. Your so fixated on your nonsenscial scenario of having multiple accounts that are yours with multiple games that is not typical of most users.
Yes because talking about family sharing in a thread about changes to family sharing is off topic because you don't like what i'm sayng
The only one making assumptions is you, you've still failed to explain why you have multiple accounts you need to share with yourself and why you are incapable of simplying clicking change account.
So why does the whole system need to be changed because you are too lazy to click change account?
Sadly you seem to actively refuse when people tell you that for them it works better the way it is now simply because its not as convenient for you all because you are too lazy to click change account.
All you need to do is click the drop down, select change account and select the account you want to login to. It doesn't need to go thru family sharing since they are your own accounts.
what are you even saying at this point???? when did i say have something against family sharing, this is game sharing that i want separate for just one user, for crying out loud read THE POST and my comments . you're the one trying to skew the discussion somewhere else entirely and being extremely combative.
yes the point of the post itself, game sharing with accounts that i don't want to use amongst the 5 or i can just delete without worry on my own pc. this is the suggestion.
edit: on xbox it works that you can set up your home xbox on one account a few times a year, steam could use this feature too.
Game sharing is family sharing, there is no differentiation between the two. Not sure why you keep refusing to read that. Call it family sharing, game sharing, account sharing, etc its still the same thing and needs restrictions against fraud.
Again for the 5th time, if you have multiple accounts you save your login credentials and you'd swap accounts with 1 click. Its incredibly simple to do so and there is no need to share. If its slightly cumbersome well thats your fault for making multiple accounts for no reason.
As i've repeatedly point out there is nothing stopping you from making 100 accounts, claiming they are yours, then charging people $10 a month to "share" them. Steam doesn't know who is using them hence why the restrictions exist, and hence why its already easy to swap between your accounts if they are yours with 1 click.
why would steam ever care about a bunch on dudes on one pc , that they would have to....cycle between themselves, a 100 people......dear god the stretching
