Steam VIP Membership/Premium Subscription
I think something that could be Beneficial to Steam and its users would be to introduce a new "VIP" or "Super Premium" membership in the form of a yearly Subscription Service. The goal would be to add new benefits and features who want to get more out of Steam that goes beyond it just being a place to Purchase and Launch games. Here are some proposed features that I think should be Introduced for Members who would sign up for this program:

• Support ticket Queue priority
• Report Queue priority
• Larger file size allowed for Artworks
• Members Only forum Section
• One free game per year from a small Selection of games chosen by Valve/Developers who volunteer
• Monthly bundle of Steam Points
And because these are potentially "Powerful" Features, perhaps the following Could only be included in an additional, more expensive Plan, or perhaps a very expensive fee per usage:
• One guaranteed forum Ban Appeal per year
• Ability to bypass Blocks from other Users

So basically a "give me free stuff, put me in front of the line and a get out of jail card" suggestion?

Bypass blocks? Are you serious?

GabeN doesn't want to add a subscription to Steam, at this time.

GabeN would work with MS to bring Gamepass to Steam or any other dev/pub that wants to add a subscription to Steam, if they want to.

Ehh not a fan of this suggestion.

Support ticket Queue Priority
This could just slow the whole ticket system down for everybody else, I can already imagine how terrifying it'd be for people trying to go through account recovery only to have to wait even longer because someone paid to have their tickets looked at first.

Report Queue priority
Much like the idea above, I don't see this being useful and instead feel it would do more harm than good. The paid mods already take a long time with their current report Queue, so it once again slows everything else down for everyone else and essentially makes the reporting system worse as a result. There could be so many valid reports from non-subscribed members that'd potentially never get looked at as reports from the "subscribed" members keep coming in.

Larger file size for allowed artworks
While I would love larger file sizes, why should this be behind a subscription service..? It'd be better for the community over all if everyone had access to it by default. I don't expect that to happen though, artwork can take up a good amount of space especially with larger sizes.

Members only Forum section
Not really worth it when you can already make private groups that you can have full control over.

One free game per year from a small Selection of games chosen by Valve/Developers who volunteer
I like free things, but a subscription service essentially makes the game no longer free at that point especially depending on the price. For example, say the subscription service is like.. $9.99

That means your one "free" game per year essentially costs $119.88

Monthly bundle of steam points
Technically you ARE paying for something so if this were implemented I could actually see this being viable but I'd still get more points just by buying games like I normally do..

Now as for the two "powerful" features...

One guaranteed forum Ban Appeal per year
We already have that. You can respond/appeal to the ban message already and a lot of forum bans get lifted already by steam support as is.

Ability to bypass Blocks from other Users
If I choose to block someone, they should not be allowed to bypass that block because they paid for a ability to do so. Thats just... honestly a really, really terrible idea.

We don't need anymore services that we get for free now turning into a subscription service.

Re-read it and wow LOL.

You don't get to buy your way out of bans.

Yeah. You can just do it for free with an alt. 5 dollars if you want unlimited posts on your ban-bypass alt.

While most of these I don't see a problem with, what I've highlighted in bold are problem areas for me because you, me, and everyone here knows it'd be abused. "Oh, I spammed the main hub with phishing URLs(which spans like what, 20+ subareas but only counted as one ban), might as well use my guaranteed unban."

Just as you have freedom to where you choose to post within Steam/Dev's ToS, users have the freedom to associate with who they want. Steam isn't going to give you the ability to bypass blocks to harass folk.

Funny thing is, Steam used to actually hand out punishments to people who grossly abused alts. One OT user got two permanent community bans for using alts to spam the forums with misinformation about covid in 2019/2020.
MonkehMaster Sep 2, 2024 @ 2:52pm
this is a huge no, everyone gets treated equally, no one should be given priority or special treatment, nor would paying for it be a welcome thing.

and the "bypass user blocking" is never going to happen lol.

have a nice day

I would gladly pay for them to investigate my steam ban abuse.
