Delete The Steam Awards that give points (or Rework)

I understand that the steam point awards system wanted to be a nice little feature to interact with people but as of now, it is seriously a bad system that not inherently but intrinsically promote people to cause rage baits and clickbait discussions THAT ACTUALLY HURT THE DISCUSSION AROUND GAMES with extreme and polarizing views to gain traction.

I get it, rage baits or unhealthy discussion will always happen but at least the situation is not made worse by even more discussion caused by people actively seeking them only to gain points no matter the actual value of their arguments.
It is not a system that mesh well with our society and if anything it only meshes well for the worst things.

That is why i am saying it would be better to delete them altogether with no possibility to give awards anywhere,as much as I like them when approached normally.

Make Steam Points only a personal thing for your own account with no way to share or send points through awards

Thank you for your answer, i was actually referring to the steam points awards that you can send to others not the steam points themsslf which are fine.

So I just adjusted the thread, basically the steam points are fine with most of their functionality but the steam awards sadly incentivize people to create rage bait discussion and create even worse game discussions.

Rage baits discussion will always exist as much as unhealthy discussion and you can do nothing about those, but with the award system you also have more people putting fuel to the fire to gain traction hoping to get rewards partacipating only for the sake to create even more chaos

Would really be nice if people used the search feature before posting or at least looked at the thread titles for the first couple of pages. You could have added to the thread instead of making a whole new one of pretty much the same topic.

Short version...
Removing the points will do nothing. People will still spam and try to farm them for various reasons (explained in the above thread). Only thing that should be done is full removal of all the awards from everywhere on Steam. But we know its not going to happen because at this point Valve doesn't want to admit that they messed up putting the award system in place even though uses and their own mods told them it was a very bad idea before they had done so.

Long version, which includes actual punishment for farmers/spammers/scammers and what not is in the other thread.

They are one in the same. All the points you get from awards someone got them from buying stuff on the forums and just transferred them by giving people awards.

If you don't get rid of the awards you're still going to get spam and farmers and scammers wanting them so that they can say "see I'm trust worthy I have all these awards, you send me the items first, then I'll send the items you want/send the money from else where" or the "ha ha I have more awards then you my friend" (which was done with VAC bans, which is why they removed the number from that).

And if you remove the numbers from next to the awards, well then everyone just has all the awards so then there is no point and the awards being around.

I am not talking about the awards in the forum, i am talking about the awards everywhere, remove the possibility to give awards in general (review/guide etc...) and just make the steam points a personal thing gained by spending money and being only used by your own account.

I don t get your last point, if awards don't exist how can people say they have awards
