is it really impossible to play different games on multiple devices?
i mean, handheld gaming are now here. it's not about sharing games with other people or some license problem. just my personal use. i want to let my pc do some auto farm game (maybe, like BDO horse leveling or auto fishing on some games out there) while playing another game on a couch with my handheld pc.

considering the future of handheld gaming, are there really no hope for future updates about this?

I had to close a game just to stream an album from my other pc today. Really is kinda silly. Fun fact also you have to disable remote play to download the songs on the other pc even.

When Steam started the possibility of the Steam Deck wasn't even a dream. Steam is a service for personal use. Which is why it's always been restricted to one device at a time. It's going to be a thought sell being able to be logged and playing in two different devices because that also means the possibility of two different people playing.

And unlike consoles PCs are open, so control measures to avoid abuse are more complex to implement.

If one of the games you want to play isn't online you can always setup one of the devices in offline mode. Oldest trick in the Steam bag.

Considering that Steam generally only allows an account to be logged in on one device at a time, then yes, that makes it impossible to play on more than one device at the same time.

Most likely this is a safeguard to prevent account sharing, which is against the Steam TOS.

However it does not prevent you from launching multiple games on the same device, which I do on a regular basis.

so it's kinda hard to make it happen because it is giving a chance for people to abuse it, but then again... i hope they can consider it.

at the moment, people in my country already abuse the new family share system by selling the family sharing spots, i saw them openly sell their services in some social media.

the reason i don't want to create a family account on another device to trick this problem is because i don't want to restart my game progres, don't have time for that.

considering the fact that some people already abuse the family sharing system that they made. maybe there is a small hope for this one to happen or idk.

I mean the issue is that you don't open the flood gates to make abuse even easier just because some abuse exists.

The reason why many restrictions exist is because someone thought they could bend the rules to do something they are not allowed to do.

Actually this is exactly why the restriction is in place.

I still think it's stupid steam will close a game just because you streamed music from another PC in the same house

Read the ToS, you agreed that the account could only be used on a SINGLE device at a time.

Use another music player like Windows media player to play the music without the need for Steam.

Try reading, you can't download them on the other pc if remote play is at all enabled. You have to go to both and disable it which is very stupid.

Not if remote play is enabled. You have to turn it off on the pcs or all you get is a nice fat stream button with no other options.
