Steam CRT screen mode
Add the ability for computers to modify their screen into a CRT mode for retro games.

No, that should be up to the game. Steam doesn't need to be a does everything program. Steam does not control the screen size or anything like that and should not do all that stuff.

This has to be done on a game level, otherwise a generic overlay with grid lines is likely what will be used.

That as said shoudl be up to the game. Since the game developers can best judge what does best for their game.

Though if the game runs through something like DOsbox, yiou can simply edit the cfgfile for dosbox to us the onree of the rgb filters.

That's really cool actually.

I was thinking more for remastered games that use the pixels to smudge their art style though since the original artists used CRT screens to blend/blur their pixels into a better shape.
Reshade can do that, even though performance hit may be an issue, as some older games tend to perform badly on newer systems
