B) I mentioned Character Customization, and the problems with that tag. It doesn't help for every single game where I can make my character look different to be lumped together with the games where you're meaningfully creating a build of skills and abilities unrestricted by class.
Obviously it needs to be popular.
Is customisation also not builds? Of course it is as you are defining what you want your character to be.
https://rpgoverload.com/18-rpgs-with-character-creation-and-customisation/
Which is why I made the forum post, to try and get others to use it.
I feel like you're missing the point. It is, but it's also games where the only customization is appearance, or where you are locked into a narrow set of abilities by a class even though you get to chose what class to play. It includes games like Aska and Return to Moria, where all characters are functionally identical but you get to change your appearance. It includes most MMOs, where you do have builds but your available abilities are class locked and so is your equipment.
Your argument is basically "We don't need the Turn Based tag, we already have the RPG tag", or "We don't need the MOBA tag, we already have the PVP tag". Yes, we do, because DOTA is a VASTLY different experience from Team Fortress 2.
If I was looking for a game where I pick skill trees instead of classes, I'd like a tag for that.
I honestly don't know what the tag could be, Build your own class sounds good. Might be to long for people though. Don't most tags take a Single or two Word approach?
Yes.
You can tag them. And we've never had so many editors frown at strange words, such as "zombies," "dragons," "anime" and what else not.
Before people start tagging anything, they need to think about it for a long, very long time.
But you are correct. The tag-system is made by you. Everybody can add tags, even if those tags don't make sense to you. It's a community effort. By the community, for the community.
I haven't added a single tag yet.
