More organizations should be as concerned about security.
Google aren't concerned about security, at least in this case. They're concerned about drawing as many people as possible to their Web Store.
Just one more reason to continue ignoring Chrome and any Google product.
Going by the number of malware-infested apps that have made their way into Google Play, I have my doubts about that.
HTTPS Everywhere is a respected security app created and maintained by a respected privacy organization. I find it laughable that Google thinks throwing these types of beneficial programs into a walled garden is going to make them any safer.
