Block all discord links and fake steam links
1: Discord links can have a fake verify system that steals info, and discord supports piracy and theft.
2: Fake steam links are obvious, but people are being smarter and hiding them. so i'd say ban them.

It's easier said than done.
As someone who used to try keep updated the link filters here, there's an staggering number of new urls being used daily. It's really hard to stay up to date because by the time you add an url to the filters, five new ones have popped out.

And blocking whole services like Discord first does more damage than good. There's always more people making a legit use out of it then there's people busing it. Also it gives the impression Steam is 'censoring' the site, which isn't good PR.
Not just that, *any* link can be suspect. Putting focus on Discord will simply mean the scammers change their MO anyway.

Hope that helps clarify what I am suggesting- Add a "Report" function to all chat rooms, instead of trying to block and filter every single link that could possibly ever be made and used.
Sounds good.

And that is going to tick off a whole lot of indie/independent developers and small studios that post their discord as a place to chat with the devs or submit bug reports. I don't use discord at all, but I see more and more devs using it to communicate with their players instead of using the Steam forums, especially if they list their game on multiple platforms. One easy place for all of their players o to come together. Block the whole service so the devs can't post links to their server and you'll have a good number of them yelling at Valve about it- so it's unlikely to ever happen.

It's also funny how the OP acts like joining a Discord server will get your info immediately stolen.

I've had Discord since 2016. The amount of times I've had my account hacked or my info stolen from joining a server? NONE. ZERO.

Sure, servers have tried to ask for my info through their own suspicious as hell verification systems, but you can just say no and leave the server.

Yes, indies like Ubisoft... I'm still mad they purged their own forums TWICE in two years and are now reachable only through discord.

It was surprising on how many different ways to spell the steamcommunity that we had to block.

And now with just the paid mods, I'm sure new links are not being put to the filter nearly as fast.
