Steam server maintenance
Hi, is it possible to change the time of maintenance of steam servers? It always happens on Tuesday during peak hours in my country. Please, if possible, change to mid day or something.

They do it at the lowest peak time globally. It's been the same since Steam began.

If they change it, it'll simply move it to someone else's peak hours. They chose the time period that is globally the lowest.

"Screw over someone else, and not me". Uh huh.

Oh sure! Let's just rearrange a global maintenance schedule just for you! Steam only has millions of users worldwide to consider. But hey, they'll definitely shift things around for one person's convenience. And peak hours? Everywhere has different peak hours, so moving it to "midday" in one place is still peak time somewhere else. Not to mention that maintenance needs planning, scheduling, and coordination to ensure minimal downtime across all time zones. If anything, Tuesday maintenance at that time is the result of careful planning, not a whim.

Midnight is the best time period Valve chose for maintenance, so players would not be disturbed mid-game. That's called "Go to sleep, before I emerged from the darkness to fix things".

The maintenance happens at about 4 PM (in Seattle) every week on Tuesday. That means the people who have to do the maintenance are still at work, and so are a lot of other people in North and South America.

In Europe and Africa, that works out to around midnight, and in eastern Asia and Oceania it's about noon. Can't please everybody, but the maintenance has to be done at some point and it's at the lowest player count time of the week: https://steamdb.info/app/753/charts/

Also, for the vast majority of the things you can do on Steam, the maintenance won't affect you. You can still play games even when you're offline.

When downtime is scheduled, we try to perform the activity during business hours at our office in the Pacific time zone (in the United States). This way, as many team members as possible are available to help with issues that might arise and get the work done. We try to stagger the events at different times of day.

And it's at 3PM PT.

I'm guessing most complainers just HAVE to shoot other people in the face at exactly that moment and not on any other day, or even on that day but a different hour.

Valve chooses when there are the least playing that happens to be during the peak time your area is playing. Simply choose a different time, if possible, to play.

Country? Nah, OP doesn't care about the other fools, they just happen to live in the same time zone.
