Please allow us to rename and reorganize our games.
This is something that GOG allows—the ability to rename both the game's title and also the words used to sort the game under the hood. Too many Steam games have inconsistent/ugly/sloppy syntax in their names, and too many series have non-alphanumerically sorted names (e.g., Tomb Raider > Rise of the Tomb Raider > Shadow of the Tomb Raider), and it makes my game library a mess. Again, GOG has this functionality, and it makes sorting my collection there so much easier.

Please consider it :FFVheart:

You do not have the rights to the IP to rename it.
Steam does not have the rights to allow you to do this either.

How does renaming the game on my user end violate copyright? It's just words used to organize the game. It's doesn't literally rename it in any meaningful sense. Also, GOG allows this, so it's probably legal.

100% legal, just like how its legal to rename your games .exe files to whatever you want.

Maybe Valve just have a reason for not allowing it? not saying its a good reason, but they probably do have a reason.

Their reason very likely is "haven't thought of it and don't consider it". Which is their reason for many things.

I would like to be able to rename games in my library as well. It's just for local view in sorting and categorising.

And it's perfectly legal to do so. Renaming a shortcut (which the entry in the library basically is) is perfectly ok, that does not mean that you're renaming an IP. That's ridiculous.

Only if there's a quick and easy way to revert back to the default name.

Cuz lord knows how many posts will see like "Someone hacked my account and renamed all my games".

Sure.

Right click > reset name.
