Too many bots in discussions.
We should be able to flag a user if they seem suspicious. I have 8 invites from bot accounts trying to get my items so its not some myth im making up because i dont like people counter arguing. Allow others to see the account the poster of the discussion flagged and it would give validity to both sides. If the guy that made the post is wrong its obvious they just want to shut others up. But when a bot joins a discussion calls people slurs, insults to family or even religious attacks followed by clown awards on the poster just asking basic questions makes for a horrible hub for engagement.

Its hard to talk about meta topics without being insulted by people that see it as over reactions. But its something ive seen get worse through the years. Ill go to a community just to see flat out disrespect. Like new players asking about traps in a game gets back "try playing with your eyes open" or 30 skill issue spammers. all offline and/or private. At least let me toggle the option the allows public users only. Some examples are better than other. look for older posts that are still being updated. Good chance of a bot in there that will reply religiously every hour of every day for weeks at a time.

If they were bots, they'd be spamming links everywhere. They cannot do this anymore. Why? Did you notice the message when you submitted this topic? So, yeah.

"This post is awaiting analysis by our automated content check system. It will be temporarily hidden until we verify that it does not contain harmful content (e.g. websites that attempt to steal information)."

Ignore the invites, I do. If you think something is suspect, report it. That's what flagging is. You can also block them.

i report them and get back steam automated messages about how they cant take action unless i was already scammed. They Actually told me to make a post in these very discussions as silly as that sounds. Look at the news for many popular games right now. Csgo tf2 lethal company elden ring. Theres a very good chance the first post is by a guy named CSGO MAN. He has a setup that the second a post is made his account will just spam a message on it. Some use it to spam nonsense about lgbt NEEDING to be added. A very common setup is just saying "let the game die." Bots are not exclusively used for link spam. Just look at tf2. They have had bots for years now. One of the most notorious dudes name was sparkle that to this day has a yt account showing his bots calling users slurs and just ruining everyones time.
Flagging does nothing and is selectivly implemented depending on the discussion location. Some forums have no real moderation.

I reported an issue in dead by daylight about not receiving shards with a purchase. I then got a message saying i was banned from the discussions. The reason?

flat out says "Thank you for bringing this to our attention, We will forward it to our team"

But im banned? with a thank you as the reasoning? Meanwhile i can have a game like barony where the dev will actually talk and engage asking for ideas for the game.

Its the wild west with pockets of modern enforcement.

i love how you manage to immediately summon a bot with a complaint about bots.

also, keep in mind all the "moderators" are bots.
and all of "support" are bots...

valve don't care ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Of course, they cannot take action if nothing occurred. It's silly and they told you that to basically say, "We cannot take action because nothing happened, yet. They can't go off huntches or "There's a very good chance...."

Report and move on...

Sorry, don't believe that...you don't get banned for reporting.....UNLESS you're abusing it.

You get those invites because of the crap groups youre in.

Leave the trash groups and youll see the frequency of those friend requests drop dramatically.

Well they appeared to accuse the first to respond as being a "bot" so....

Anyway, one of the best things you can do to prevent unwanted requests is to make the inventory private, it gets rid of almost all unwanted requests throughout the year.

The problem is You become harder to verify. I Very much dislike Using discussions and getting private accounts. It just makes them seem like another bot. I know some have solid fake profiles but There are still some huge red flags. Stuff like 2k hours in csgo without having the only achievement. Also when you drop thousands of steam points on a steam profile, being forced to hide it is a frustrating solution. Thanks for the advice But this is more just a vent about how much worse it seems to be getting. At the end of the day steam wont read a single discussion unless its old and they wanna close it.

But if I was going to steal a car I'd want to blend in and not look suspicious and your logic means use a public profile and you look more trustworthy as in blend in. Anyone can modify their profile and make it public to look more trust worthy whilst still planning to scam users.

Terminally online people will sometimes invite to message you directly, so keep that in mind as well.

Do you have evidence to backup your claim about bots?
according to this guy anyone who ever comments in a forum is a bot. :steamfacepalm:
