Remove awards from forum posts, reviews, and guides

Too many people are posting bait and memes just to farm awards (such as jester). Every game has reviews full of copy-pastes that are not related to the game, and is meant only for getting awards. Such as "for every like and award this review gets I will pet my cat." Or "For every award I will eat a spoon of mayonaise." I've seen posts, guides, and reviews with 100 awards. Clearly whatever they are doing is working. They then use the points they get from awards to buy stuff.

You seem to forget that all the spam and other crap existed BEFORE awards. And it would not go away without them, either.

They should just remove awards altogether but they're unfortunately here to stay.

I really don't get the meme of awarding jesters for bad posts, or how it even started. The people getting the jesters are going to get steam points they can use in the steam shop point shop, so it not punishment. Now you have people making obvious bait posts to farm points.

It started because some people who got jesters whined about them being insulting... now people hand out jesters all the time trying to insult others and others have seen that if they make a post that people hate or love the will get free points to do what ever they want with, including giving their own main account a bunch of free points. Or being able to go "I have more points/awards than you" and other junk like that.

People have mostly stopped giving me jesters and other awards that some consider insulting because I don't react to them. I just don't care about the points as they are only going to gather digital dust.

Heck, the only reason why I have them showing on my profile is because I was accused of giving people jesters/insult awards and got tied of saying I didn't. So now they can see I don't give out awards at all, so they can't even accuse me of transferring points to another account to give out insult awards to people.

Many of us told Valve that all this extra spam would happen if they ever did something like this... they still did this and guess what... lots of extra spam and junk posts and they refuse to admit they were wrong by not removing them from every section of Steam they put the awards in.

One of the dumbest things Valve has done to date... right up along with telling people to post on the forums to get a badge... which they removed rather quickly... but we still get junk posts trying to get the badge.

He isn't complaining about points received but what people are doing for these points especially when they start making illegal AI generated reviews which valve could be fined for

people like him are the reason awards need to be removed
it encourages so many bad actors to participate in discussions
if you need points just buy games on steam instead of this desperate act of trolling for it
these people are desperate to sell themselves for some internet points to buy profiles that nobody can see when your account is private
