I.e., even if I like achievements, I'd probably often disable them on a first run of a game. Yes, a global and per-game switch to have Steam ignore achievement unlocks would be good (but Steam probably won't, or at least not if the game itself doesn't "opt in" by using a new unlock method or flag that is documented to be able to be disabled by the user).
How much bugged achievs we are encountered in our gaming experience; multiplayer achievements from single-player games, multiplayer part in which died long ago; paid DLC achievements (say hi to Euro Truck Simulator 2, Payday 2, even Dying Light); etc., etc. All this stuff goes fun to developers/publishers not me.
I guess hiding them instead of deactivating them would be the best way to implement a solution.
This way you would not see them, but you still get them on your account and could still turn them on later if you want, also the global achievement stats would still work as they do now.
Really odd actually that this isn't possible yet after all this years, there are many options, but this is really missing. Please Valve, make this possible
Gaming without achievements is like hiking without summit. What you ask is like hiking without saying to your buddies or note to self, 'hey I went up there the other day' instead you say I just went for a walk. Which is nice but it's more fun with achievements on and part of the sport- for example:
It's your game tho and not having that kind of experience but the bottom line still says it's not a necessary feature for most users.
Achievements are just meaningless drivel, the bulk of which are nothing but mindless repetitive grind. "Oh look! I mashed the space bar 50 quintillion times!"
Back in the day, before the Konsole Kiddie generation demanded a reward for breathing, we used to play games for the fun and challenge of playing games. Nothing more and nothing less. Nothing else is needed.
We are just asking for a personal option to hide them, it wouldn't affect people who prefer to have achievements.
