Support a crator
Hi,
My idea is this: What do you think about Steam having a Support a crator program? YouTubers will have their own code that people can put right before they buy games / in-game buy and that way there will be more advertising for Steam and that way the community will grow even more.

For example:
Steam will get 29.8%.
The developers will get 70% (as usual).
And YouTubers will get 0.2%.

So it completes the 100% cake.

What do you think of the idea?

Heck no, we already have enough curators around that junk post just to get awards and other stuff. Heck even before there was awards they there was a bunch of curators posting junk.

If you want to be a curator then be one. You should not need an incentive of money to do it. IF you are good, you might be picked up as a games reporter or something for some website and get paid that way. If you have a large enough following on youtube or some other site like that you will get paid anyway, so no need for Valve to step in.

We don't need the spam and the even junk curators that we'll get if Valve hands out money to people.

OP means creator.

They can already ask for money through other means.

Valve doesn't need to have this type of incentive to get people on the largest storefront for PC games because the vast majority of PC games are already on Steam.

Referral link spam is not what Steam needs.

You could buy another copy of their game for a friend, purchase dlc or in-store purchases. Check their own website for donation links.

The best and most effective way of supporting a creator is by subbing to their channel or donating directly if they accept donations and such. Anything else is pretty much piddling and not really worth it.
