Suggestion- Give OP the option to "lock" Suggestion Threads...
Sort of like, if you give a Review. You can open the Review up for conversation, or, you can just give your Review.

Suggestions and Ideas are made by individuals, and that is "their" suggestion, not others.

Others have the option, to come out with "their" Suggestions as well.

Steam Discussions, of course different being they are "discussions".

That's not really the case here.

Steam users are encouraged, to try and make Steam a better place, but it's not going to look like a better place, if folks see others pillaried, by the same users, every day. That may inhibit, some pretty decent ideas from coming forth.

Giving a lock option, can help prevent the clutter, of an idea or suggestion.

Given this not the case as of yet, opinions and rewards, welcome :steamhappy:

I mean, the idea of having somekind of suggestion box where those can be dropped is not 100% bad per say.

But, it does feel redundant when the user can just unsubscribe and move on with their lives.
If it went into the void unseen and was a maximum of once every 4 months (or once a Year) that would be significantly better. Though for those in negative standing, it should just be deleted upon submission, especially if it's clearly an alt.

If you report your own thread and ask nicely, the moderators might lock it for you. I've done that before on forums I moderated (not here).

Reporting something means "I need a moderator to look at this". It's not just for bad things.

If only you can report your own stuff, sure.

Assuming the thread has a post from someone else anywhere in it, I'm pretty sure most people could write a sentence that describes their intent.

Nah, just make it a bottomless box and people can drop a suggestion as much as they like as long as they are not banned.

You don't report other people's posts to get your thread locked. That's not going to get a Support moderator to lock the thread. That will just be ignored.

Moderators are fully capable of reading the text you write in the box. The post you clicked report on just affects what gets quoted in the report.

If that's what you think, you'd be highly mistaken, especially if the report has nothing to do with the post being reported.

The problem is that you believe it does not benefit YOU. Thus why you want to get rid of it.

Hell, "want" is a big word here. For all I know you could have posted this only bait arguments.

It doesn't benefit anyone. Show me a time where it has benefited someone, and I guarantee it'll be incredibly mundane or pointless.

It benefits publishers and valve because it creates a controlled space where people can talk about games and build hype. Valve wouldn't pay money to moderate them if they didn't feel they were getting value for money from them.
