And here is 2 examples of why you can't just remove 1 award, you have to remove them all (something I mentioned already in another post and many other threads on this topic).
People will just move on to using a different one and people already complaining that other ones are "insulting" so its either remove all or none. I vote for remove them all from everywhere Valve put them so we have less whining threads about feeling insulted and less spam/farming threads/posts. It won't get rid of them all but it will at least lower their amount.
Awards for profiles, guides, reviews, etc. Are all fine. Bait will not be worth doing in any of those categories and the awards actually serve a purpose.
Awards for discussions is just reddit tier nonsense that isn't necessary. If we could remove awards from discussions first and see how that goes, then we could dictate whether awards need to go entirely or not.
"Come to my profile, give me an award!!/+rep/message" We already see spam like this, if the awards aren't removed from there too we'll just end up seeing more spam.
Awards on reviews and guides and stuff are not fine. We see lots of junk reviews just to get awards, same with guides and other stuff. Its an all or nothing thing with these stupid awards.
Remove them from one part and they will just increase in another, and just delete removing the main problem which is the awards themselves.
Maybe if Valve had 10 or 20 times the moderators they do now and had ones active in the community too doing "patrols" of each section that might help. But I still doubt that. Having all reviews/guides/and what not need to be signed off by a moderator first would go a long way, but thats just not going to happen because even 100 times the moderators they have now I doubt that would be enough to clear all the ones that don't break rules in a reasonable amount of time. It also wouldn't solve the "I feel insulted by this" rants we keep getting.
So again, remove all awards from every place on steam at once would solve many issues.
Fun for the trolls that are infesting the discussions with brain rot drama, copypasta reviews and brain dead guides, for the normal people that want to use it it's becoming a cesspoll.
Why get rid of Steam Discussions if people can easily avoid them? they aren't forced to interact with them. So, why are they here?
"Go get a life" 1.Everyone has a life or else they'd be dead. 2. You are speaking here, do you want to be told to "get a life" ? 3, All people gotta do is find something to do with their lives.
4. When people are bored/don't have much else to do, you'll find them here, lurking, posting Jokering around.
I'm positive this "feature" is junk and should never have been put into Steam. I'm positive this has caused far more spam and junk posts/reviews/guides and what not then we had before the awards system showed up.
