Steamdeck dock mode

Hello, I saw that the steam deck is on sale right now. I used to have a high end pc. But i left the country for 6 months and i sold the pc since i did not have to use it. I currently am coming back to the states but only for 3 months. So i dont need anything expensive. The steam deck is a good price right now. But i hate playing handheld. I would only play the steam deck dock mode. Is the deck strong enough to play games at normal framerate 30+, on atleast medium. on most games. I know its a handheld but i hate playing handheld. I have a switch. Which is always connected to a tv. I saw that you can play retro games and xbox cloud. Basically my question is. If i buy the steam deck. Will most modern games just look like trash on low graphics just to pull 20-30 frames. At that point its just better to buy a console since its the same price for medium graphics 30-60.

Stay away from the deck and get the legion go instead. First of all you don't need to buy an overpriced and useless dock for that. The legion go already has an integrated kickstand and also has far superior performance.

The only thing that speaks for the deck is the ergonomics and the relatively low power consumption relative to the performance it delivers. If you only want to play docked it really makes no sense to buy the deck.

Just looked it up. Starts at 629.99.
Steam deck lcd is going for 300 right now. Obviously I'm playing dock. Screen and battery don't matter. For 630. I can almost afford gaming laptops with 4050s in it or even any console on the market.

Basically for 300. Steam deck is a really low price. If the performance is really that bad. Rather get a console then. 630 is just to much for hand held even if it's powerful. Rather go normal pc at that point
