Recurrent Problems: Brazilian Payment System (Boa Compra / PagSeguro)
I'm a very old Steam user, and I'd just like to bring light to some problems that Brazilians and all people using this payment broker are having.

When I started using Steam, the only payment system I had was PayPal. After some years, Steam adopted Boa Compra as the broker to pay for games using credit cards and PIX.

It's great that Steam tried to find alternatives to offer diverse forms for people to acquire their services. However, in the last five years, there have been some recurring problems that Boa Compra doesn't seem to be bothered by. They just give evasive answers and do as they please.

The Steam Summer Sale is a good opportunity to buy some wishlisted games (for ourselves and our families). But again, we pay for the games, and they remain in "pending" status, making them impossible to download and play.

When we try to contact customer service, they give us evasive answers and even leave us waiting in a support queue for a long time.

People tired of this kind of disrespect turn to websites that gather complaints about various businesses and enterprises. These sites allow other clients to check a company's ranking in customer support and problem resolution.

With the monopoly on payments using PIX and credit cards, Boa Compra has no incentive to improve their service and relationship with customers. They do things on their own terms.

I'd like to suggest that Steam Developers and Customer/Business Development departments regularly check these quality indicators and community feedback to explore ways to break this monopoly.

In the past (before Steam implemented the feature to keep the purchase cart in previous conditions and prices), I lost daily deals because of Boa Compra/PagSeguro.

This is just a suggestion to improve the Steam experience (and at the same time, improve sales).

Check how many people are complaining here on the forums and on the website I mentioned before (Reclame Aqui).

The problem is known, recurrent, and yet... persistent through the years. Something must be done regarding this problem, please!

I also kindly asks that anybody that are having problems report their experience here.

Como usuário antigo do Steam, gostaria de trazer à tona alguns problemas que os clientes do Brasil estão tendo ao utilizar a plataforma de pagamentos Boa Compra.

Quando comecei a usar o Steam, o único sistema de pagamento que existia era o PayPal. Depois de alguns anos, o Steam adotou a Boa Compra como intermediadora para pagar jogos usando cartões de crédito e PIX.

É ótimo que o Steam tenha tentado encontrar alternativas para oferecer diversas formas de pagamento para que as pessoas possam adquirir seus serviços. No entanto, nos últimos cinco anos, têm ocorrido alguns problemas recorrentes que a Boa Compra parece não se importar. Eles apenas dão respostas evasivas e fazem o que querem nas diversas reclamações registradas.

A Steam Summer Sale é uma boa oportunidade para comprar alguns jogos da lista de desejos (para nós e para nossos familiares). Mas pagamos e problemas de pendência continuam ocorrendo impedindo o download e utilização do software.

Quando tentamos entrar em contato com o atendimento ao cliente, eles nos dão respostas evasivas, contraditórias e até nos deixam esperando na fila de suporte por um longo tempo.

Pessoas cansadas desse tipo de desrespeito recorrem a sites que reúnem reclamações sobre diversos negócios e empresas. Esses sites permitem que outros clientes verifiquem a classificação de uma empresa em atendimento ao cliente e resolução de problemas.

Com o monopólio dos pagamentos via PIX e cartão de crédito, a Boa Compra não tem incentivo para melhorar seu serviço e relacionamento com os clientes.
Eles fazem as coisas em seus próprios termos.

Gostaria de sugerir que os departamentos de Desenvolvimento Steam e de relacionamento com Cliente/Negócios verifiquem regularmente esses indicadores de qualidade e feedback da comunidade para explorar maneiras de acabar com esse monopólio e melhorar o serviço como um todo.

No passado (antes do Steam implementar o recurso para manter o carrinho de compras nas condições e preços anteriores), perdi ofertas diárias por causa da Boa Compra/PagSeguro.

Esta é apenas uma sugestão para melhorar a experiência Steam (e, ao mesmo tempo, melhorar as vendas).

Verifiquem quantas pessoas estão reclamando aqui nos fóruns e no site que mencionei antes (Reclame Aqui).

O problema é conhecido, recorrente e, no entanto, persistente ao longo dos anos. Algo precisa ser feito a respeito desse problema, por favor!

Peço também que quem estiver tendo problemas com o Boa Compra, deixe aqui seu relato e experiência!

So what's your suggestion to Steam? It sounds like Steam is just as much a victim of their terrible service as the users are.

I´d like to suggest to Steam Devs, the following:
There are lots of alternatives like Google Pay, Ebanx, and other payment platforms that could be tested (and maybe they even have better solutions).

GoG and Humble Bundle uses some of them...

Some sites, just after the purchase (GoG for example), sends you a quick feedback form. They asks about the purchase experience, rating the store, the payment method, the games variety.
It would give data from real customers, not paid reviews, to check the quality of the service.

Some research regarding these alternatives, could benefit Steam and the community.
There are clear evidence that this monopoly isn´t good... and the platform is losing money.
Players are desisting to buy after the daily deal or sale is gone...

One of the complaint post, the guy said he purchased in the past more than 200 USD in a month.. it´s a considerable amount for just one user (IMHO).

But it´s just a suggestion...

Long story short:

- Purchase feedback feature
- SLA to gather indicators (how much time until a problem is resolved)
- Alternative payment platforms.

I support you. I bought some games to my wife and I and i'm waiting more than 2 days to receive the game.


Observation: I pay on credit card and my account is already charged.

Same problem here... Their support seems nonexistent... Looks like the complaints on "Reclame Aqui" are even worse, with vague and evasive answers.

The only good thing is that they allow payment in installments... But if any other platform offers this, they will probably be gone (for the good of Steam customers).

I just remade the purchase using PayPal today. In the next 2 seconds, the games were in my library.

While the Boa Compra (ironic title, huh?) monopoly persists... they won't improve their awful service.

I'm suffering from this right now. Took me a whole day to be able to speak to someone on Pagseguro and even now, after re-making my purchase for the fifth time, my games are not in my library.

Usually purchase from Credit Card resolves immediately but not with this company as i see...

Luis, Boa Compra didn´t resolved my problem... they simply canceled the purchase and they didn´t even bother to notice me.

If we were out of Steam Sales... the deal would be gone... and we should pay full price.
My recomendation... create a Paypal account. Pay through there.

Although we don´t have the installments, i´m done funding business like "Boa Compra". It should be named "Awful Purchase".

The number of complaints about "Boa Compra" sky rocketed... and they don´t even bother answering them.

Steam shouldn´t bother about them either... and cut this crappy service ASAP.

Yes... What i have been doing after the winter sales was to buy everything to my steamwallet via international credit card. Never more i'll pay anything through boacompra, and i really doubt if they will do something. This is a ridiculously minor problem to them, considering all the money they gather... Such a pity...
