Suggestion- Eliminate Red ban public status for Posters...
Someone brought up a decent point, in that showing someone "banned" on the forum, is in fact shaming that person, that may only bring that user future harassment.

Why not just ban the person? Why should they be publically shamed, something in fact TOS tell us NOT to do, yet, Steam does it.

We do not need to know other peoples moderation history or affairs. That should be a Steam matter, not for we to see. And those goes for Jesters as well (though, i'll take em for the points).

It seems Steam is purposely trying to further, what they tell others not to do.

Rid the Public Shaming, Steam.

Yup i agree unless they display then names of who reported the individual and the acting steam support or moderation account that punished the banned individual.

It's basically steam trying to name and shame it's customers on a forum, and it's pretty hideous, since steam acts like a baby when you insult them, they in turn insult the customer.

Part of the reason steam has never got a penny outta me, they can go and fork off with there spaghetti nonsense.
Don't want it? Don't get banned.

Don't want to get banned? Follow the rules.

Think your ban is abusive? Appeal it.

I vastly prefer seeing that red banner. At least, I know the user cannot reply and I'm not wasting my time typing replies to him/her.
It shows something is done.
The timing of these threads and identical general point of focus seems to not be coincidence

Anyway, No. They should display, most forums display the status so it makes sense to have it remain.

It's a norm for forums to do and is intentional in design. It's also normal for forums to find out who troublemakers are and to have the status display for that reason.
Done Incorrectly about 90% of the time. Steams starting to not even be good for free games, why do you all seek a forum that punishes the few people that engage on it anyway

The Community Messages would say otherwise.
It's more so that people will know that there isn't going to be a response in the near future from the banned account.

That actually is a coincidence but I am in agreement with Mr ranger, we both witnessed steam support reopen a locked thread that was closed for argument, and instead they then. Red flagged the person on the topic and reopened the topic.

Not something steam support does, it shows someone is manipulating steam support with a inside account, a friend who works for steam or one of the suspected forum user alts who is really a moderator.

That's a good coincidence as well

And he's right. The reason these are all going up, is likely being there is a moderation crisies here. And people are catching on.

There IS a moderation crisis. There is no catching on here. Almost everyone in here agrees moderation is kinda bad. It's just that groups of people don't agree on what is wrong with it.
Blizzard games are hot garbage anyway, I haven't bought a blizzard game in 15 years, and I'm not missing it, getting banned from a blizzard forum is how they control opinion. I once suggested on blizzards wow site they make classic wow completely free to play to introduce a new generation of players.

They Immediately banned the account, they where afraid of the bankruptcy which happened because they didn't make the game free to entice new customers. Steam is suffering from this same type of issue, new customers and the next generation isn't bothering with steam , all them highschool kids YouTube fortnight and egs

Yeah, I HIGHLY doubt that alone got you banned.

Press X to doubt all over again. And I am mashing it.

I should precise I really do speak for the main steam hub. Game hubs are a different ballgame.
Interestingly I was recently banned for a bit for calling a bunch of forum regulars "really, really dumb" and while I momentarily saw the red "(banned)" thing next to my name that disappeared again a bit later -- although I still couldn't post, and still had the large red "banned until" notification on top of the forum screen myself.

If that wasn't just a local glitch, appears this may be a thing already, therefore...
