well said tweet came from sony.
if thats not good enough how about a news update on the game... again from sony?
https://steamcommunity.com/games/553850/announcements/detail/4196868529806518742
its going to be removed from the store page, just hasnt happened yet.
I can see why people would be hesitant especially after more than 1 major change.
If anything, them not removing it could cause issues since multiple official sources have stated it isn't one anymore.
that being said, while i would be nice, valve likely wont do something about this type of stuff, unless it keeps causing major issues.
with that said, launchers that arent built in can be easily bypassed with a launch command.
examples of games with launchers that arent built-in are civ 5/6, prison architect and cities skylines off the top of my head.
launcher built-in to games are a bit more complicated, but not impossible to bypass.
in any case, i myself dislike having all this extra account nonsense as doing this makes you end up with tons of different logins for each game doing it, making playing any games take that much more time to get to playing, not to mention having a list of bs account login/pass, on top of having to log into steam itself.
the launchers are horrible, some cause conflicts, others simply break games, or in most cases, simply more hassle than its worth.
in general, i actively avoid any game showing account nonsense as a requirement and/or required launcher bs, along with crappy third party drm and also anticheat bs.
but for games that add that bs long after you have bought the game(s), as mentioned i bypass that nonsense and continue on playing.
i dont care at all about people telling anyone to read requirements.
the fact it wasnt required from the start and the devs bypassed it due to issues, then months later were going to add it, makes the whole situation worse.
not including selling in regions where PS accounts werent allowed and/or forced registration through a console and not allowed simply through the website.
also to mention, the store page doesnt show it has cross platform, but it supposedly has it, but it doesnt require an account for it to work, so there is literally no reason for a PS account, heck you dont even get incentives for creating an account for sony.
all this shows the publisher as incompetent and trying to fluff their account numbers for corporate greed and in other cases, likely predatory console sales, or website page sales.
in any case, if they are simply making it "optional" only, then the store page needs to reflect that, or if they are removing account linking in general, then it should be removed from the store page.
with all that said, it still being on the store is likely costing them sales (along with more negative reviews) and its likely sony not yet "allowing" the devs to make w/e necessary changes to the store page.
in the end, sony in 1 day almost destroyed a game that built a ton of community respect for not only the game, but the devs.... excluding the CM's who decided to engage in community arguments in the games discord, bad mouthing customers and/or people outside of the games community.
not to mention refunds that likely cost them extra money on top of the price, because off valve having to issue said refunds, due to valve cut in said sales (i think, im not sure).
and that goes to show, publishers in general are a horrible choice to even partner with (assuming they dont need a publisher for money purposes), while not all publishers are bad, most have shown to be greedy and/or make bad choices and screwing development teams and the games made by them.
There is cross play with PC and PlayStation owners. It's an optional toggle and is not tied to linking a PSN account either.
In fact, there is a persistent bug that if a PC player joins a host that is using a PS5, the enemies have way less health than they should.
Kinda funny really.
well the store page doesnt reflect the game having crossplatform, so there is another sony mistake...
and bugs i guess from what you said.
that being said, i like thats its optional and even better a "toggle", this way pc doesnt have to play with console if they dont want too.
because they are trying to poach sales from steam in most cases, they want to bypass steams cut (along with predatory sales on their app/store and as well pad their account numbers for various reasons.
but ya, some of them have severe issues with their account nonsense.
Thankfully they decided to remove said requirement.
ya, that could be.
wrong PS store said "optional" and steam store page said "required", 2 conflicting statements, then PS tried changing it after people had noticed.
in any case, that has no bearing on the topic.
but yes, its good that sony back peddled and arent going through with requiring a useless account requirement, that adds nothing and has no use at all, but padding numbers and w/e other various things i mentioned that might be the case.
People keep ignoring that games requirements just like steam, may differ from the service itself. Also as mentioned over and over that ps page (ie not the game product page) applies to a tiny list of very specific games not including helldivers 2. Its amazing that people keep running with what the yotubers intentionally left out without looking for themselves.
My goodness people see a small cropped section of a whole page and don't question a single thing.
