Steam SLOT Machine - for backlog suggestions - fun visual game
I have a huge backlog & some games just get pushed down the list & forgotten.

I'd love a simple little slot machine game that reads & rolls my backlog like a 5 reel slot machine.

We have the Discovery Queue for new game suggestions, but this = fun search / sell option too!

Instead of buttons for "nickel slots" // $1 // $5 // $10 - those could be SQL button labels for:

1st: My Games // New Games

2nd: Never started // Never Completed // Played XXX hours // Played XXX months (years?) ago // Genre (drop down list?) // SURPRISE ME (wildcard) // ??? //

Readers - what search categories would you suggest?

Nobody else sees the value in a fun little "backlog slot machine" app / interface on STEAM?

:rl2shrug: Not when n-sided-die apps are ubiquitous.

I can think of several reasons why it might not be the best idea to make a store look like a casino.

It could simply be an view option like filtering on RACING games or RPG, or it could be a downloaded game itself that reads my library (and the store) so I can spin the wheels and see some games I bought but never played and that are buried by recently played, just not obvious on the ALL GAMES "shelf" in the UX, etc.

The idea itself isn't bad. Plenty of people run into the issue with choice crisis in backlogs and such.

Personally I wouldn't use it, but that's fine. I have my backlog grouped in a few priority collections, but that's what works for me.

Isn't that what the "play next" section in the libvrary is for?

If it would be much more customisable, sure. As it is now, to me it always was a limited and halfbaked effort. It doesn't include games that have a short playtimedue to simply booting it and setting everything up.
I might try to make this myself someday using data from my:
PROFILE > ACCOUNT DETAILS > PURCHASE HISTORY

I want more variables, like installed / never started, never installed, hours played, etc.

If a gamer like me can figure out a basic system like this in EXCEL, Valve can do it in a day or two with simple, fun graphics too!
