Report a translation problem
It almost looks like, from some cursory searching, that this is now possible, but I've tried disabling the Steam overlay, and I still get them. I'm now at the point of creating a custom skin to do this based on the information provided by omega32 ツ:

The reason I think it's still an issue is because of those of us gaming on Linux. I don't know what percentage of games this happens for but I know for sure this happens for me with Just Cause 3. In fullscreen mode, if there's not too much going on in-game and an achievement notification pops up, it doesn't seem to occur, but the minute anything is really going on and an achievement notification occurs, it causes the screen to flicker and come back to a fullscreen of just solid black and nothing seems to bring it back; I have to terminate the game and run it again. Fortunately, the game not only autosaves but has completed the autosave each time it's occurred, but I feel like one day I'm going to lose progress.
Horizon Forbidden West is super spammy. Almost every kill or thing I collect causes a notification to appear.
