Profile theme music
:zagmad:
Each of us has at least 1 music album in our Steam library, but as we know well, 99% of people will never use it. but I have an idea how it could be used, namely that, for example, at level 25 on Steam, the option of setting 1 music from the album as the profile music would be unlocked, which would be activated every time after entering a given profile.

At the bottom, instead of the application download bar, it would temporarily change to the visualizer mode of the music being played: title, volume, etc.

As long as there's a toggle on/off switch, as it's not for me.

Did you purchase a performance license to the music?

Better idea, use the search feature and read all the other threads on this topic and why its more then likely never going to happen.

I don't want to hear what others consider music on their profiles if I need to look at their profiles specially if I am already listening to or watching stuff. If Valve were to ever do something like this, they would have to have an on/off switch and it would have to be off by default.

Copyright issues. Just because you bought it on Steam, doesn't mean you can play it publicly for a bunch of people. You bought a personal use license, which means only YOU can listen to it. Technically its even illegal for you to play it for a bunch of other people in the same room as you, but the chance of you being caught for that is near zero. You would need to buy a broadcasting license to play it publicly on your profile for others to hear. That could costs hundreds or even thousands of dollars per month. Valve won't cover that cost, are you willing to spend that kind of money just so people can listen to a song on your profile?

If you want to hear stuff while on someones profile, just play the music on your own PC.

Music from what you get on steam for a game's ost is not the same as music streamed from youtube, 2 different entities and 2 different ways of providing the music. You can put youtube videos on your profile with which ever videos you like as it is youtube, not steam/valve streaming it.

Dear god no. There's a reason this hasn't been done since Myspace, it's annoying to literally everyone else.

Lots of legal issues too. You don't understand how strict the music industry is about copyright and broadcasting.

My space was a website that allowed people to play music on their profiles.... Myspace died because people avoided it. It tried to make a comeback... which didn't work and its still mostly dead. Very few people use it.

I personally went to a few myspace pages in the distant past.... was annoyed by the music automatically playing, and left... never to return.
Steam pages allowing you to run midi files like websites used to do in the early 2000's. Back when Geocities and other free to make website webpages were a thing lol.

Every time this is suggested. orgs like the RIAA start salivating like Pavlov's dogs

Rights issues aside, autoplaying music is one of the worst things you can do in terms of web design.
